Signings, Cuts, Trades

ive got no issues with not adding a LB high or with high priority
but im not going to sit here and pretend that the unit could not benefit massively (and also massively help the team) by adding talent to the group - im not advocating for significant draft capital, but nor would i be against it if that's the direction we go

i think someone like damone clark (also LSU) would be a major add - but unfortunately has the combine spinal thing so wont be available as a rookie - in dane brugler's most recent mock draft he got picked in the 7th round - he's a 2nd round talent in my view so it's a shame he wont be a viable option high

but he would be someone id love to add for the future on day 3 and just take the lost year and think of him like an extra 2023 2nd rounder (with a 1 year shorter deal)

i also wont lie to you and tell you that i have ever loved the idea of spending high capital on LB but i also cant tell you that adding a dynamic athlete to go alongside queen wouldnt be a very exciting prospect
This is how I feel. I wonder if MMs vision for the defence impacts who we'll be taking to some extent?

as always, the DC and HC's vision for the unit will guide the thoughts about what positions are valuable and what traits are needed at various positions and how you can acquire them

Given that, do we have indications of how we feel about MM? In terms of likes, dislikes, tendencies etc

we dont have much to go off tbh

all we know is that he's been embedded with the ravens for his entire NFL career and seems to have no intentions of overhauling the defensive scheme or system

and we've seen what he did schematically with adjusting that sort of defence to a college team with different positional strengths than the ravens have had recently... that being said, he didnt recruit those guys so hard to really pull much weight from that in terms of his preferences

i think we're probably not going to see much change in terms of how the ravens evaluate certain positions any more than was already happening - the last few years, the way we've looked at WR has changed in terms of some of the attributes we prioritise and even how we value the position in the draft, and we saw last year that the philosophy on production at EDGE is maybe changing also

you could point to queen at LB too albeit i think it's indicative of how much we value other traits at LB that we've turned to someone like Bynes now multiple times even since Queen was drafted - will be interesting what traits we value in the next LB we draft (whenever that is)

notably seem to be looking at speed at all positions and valuing that highly - and not worrying about size and frame the way we have done in the past

probably only DB (and maybe OL) where there's no indication of any sort of philosophical change in draft traits

Chris Westry with the Panthers now? How did I miss that?

Officially putting the moratorium on drafting anymore Bens

just because of this post, im calling it right now...

Ben Brown, C, Ole Miss

watch the ravens draft him at some point on day 3 lol - also think he's probably one of the only "true" C prospects who actually fits the size profile of what the ravens would look for at the position lol - 6'5, 312lbs, 34"+ arms... think he's the biggest C physically in the draft

we love a big (but laterally sluggish) ben

that said, i havent watched him yet so he may be shit but he's the only OL on my prospect list called Ben

I like Jurgens for us.

Apparently the 49ers & Titans are playing hardball and won't go too high salary wise with Deebo & AJ Brown. AJ Brown told Deebo that the Titans will not go above $20M, the initial offer made to Deebo from the 49ers was $19M a year. Jaguars really screwed everybody else paying Kirk like he's Davante Adams or something.

I'm quite curious what the tipping point would be with Hollywood, apparently Deebo was $25M a year and I imagine AJ Brown may cost around the same.
