Signings, Cuts, Trades

Bummer... maybe we can bring back Latavius Murray as insurance if things aren't going well for one of Gus or Dobbins. Murray with an improved OL and a full training camp and preseason with us should be much better in 2022.
Murray had some nice moments, but he is 32. I'd rather use one of our 4th or 5th round picks to snag a back. Kyren Williams, Brian Robinson, Zamir White, Jerome Ford...Seems like some quality depth guys with potential will be available.

Eagles shopping Jalen Reagor, that didn't last long.....

Day 2 pick.

Sounds fair. I’m sure blocking for his old Louisville QB would give him more motivation than blocking for any Jet QB not named Flacco.

Becton for Pick45. Send it.

I'm not really that interested. For one I'm still not convinced he's any good, and if Stanley returns, he'd a bench stash and nothing more. Not sure he could play LG, and I wouldn't start him over Stanley or Moses.

After the rookie season he had, it’s very telling that he’s on the trade block for effort concerns, especially when effort was a concern of his coming out of college. I’m not sure he’s a quality NFL OT, I’m not sure he’s got the character we want, and I’m not sure he’s better than any of the OTs we have listed #1 on the depth chart.

Then there’s the flip side, what do we expect to land in round 2? Is it worth the risk to take a high value position with 3 years of control on a rookie deal for only a mid 2nd? Hell this could become another brilliant decosta maneuver where he turn a low pick into a player who shows out for a year or two and then gets flipped into a first round pick.

If I recall correctly, Becton scores pretty high on his RAS. Iunno much about that in terms of transitioning to G for a year.
Regardless, I would’ve felt iffy if we didn’t take a tackle in round 3+ even with a healthy Stanley. We only saw rookie year Becton and he was pretty stout from what I remember.

edit: ras not bad..

He was beast his rookie year. Got hurt his sophomore year and I think jets mishandled his injury. That’s why there’s a rift

yeah i think the relationship is broken with the coaching staff there
but he's a massive talent to be available going into only year 3 of his deal (with the ability to slap the 5th year option on him next offseason)

but if the jets do move him then they're 100% taking one of the top tackles at 4 or 10 (probably 4 would be my guess)

tough to go after him now because we'd have 3 tackles we'd want to play if healthy and none of them have guard versatility

i dont really get that though about character concerns - the whole injury thing there was weird - they're seeming to suggest that he didnt work hard enough to get back from injury but then ive seen duke manyweather fighting becton's corner all offseason talking about how it was never the "4 week injury" that people said it was...

there's certainly an element of risk and he (and both our starting tackles) have no guard flexibility so the point is kind of moot but this whole thing smells funky - i wouldnt be opposed to bringing in someone of this quality for a day 2 pick for sure - would just be a bit shit that for at least 1 year, someone's riding the bench

just seems to be like there's some bad blood between him and the coaches and the relationship is irreparable... then again it's matt miller from a league source (not even a jets source or becton trainer/agent) so could just be him guessing based on old shit from a couple of months ago
