Signings, Cuts, Trades

Do we belive in Emory Jones? I half do. I just hope that John didn't already cook him by giving him Warhop a new position and a the opposite of the line. All coming off an injury

notable that the G they signed in free agency is a LG

i think jones playing LG was more about vorhees than it was about emery

but i think what i would say, based on the film we do have of him in the pros, is that i am hopeful but not full of belief - you could really see that he was a RT who hasn't had much practice at LG - didnt look comfortable - there's a reason that they only experimented with rotating him in for vorhees for 1 game

based on the limited film in the regular season, i've actually got more belief in carson vinson's ability to translate vs Jones right now (not to say that Jones hasn't and won't still develop - also full disclosure i had Vinson ahead of Jones on my big board last year

Think you give him every opportunity to win that job but you need to have a backup plan in place if it doesn't go smoothly. That limited tape from last year wasn't very good but he was kind of thrown in there without a lot of readiness, so you've got to believe he'll get better. But he's got the right traits to do well. Just need to see it now.

they clearly want guys who finish and especially after dealing with the vorhees, faalele and clevelands of it all - guys who are not finishers

draft Emery Jones (finishing was one of his biggest pluses), sign john simpson (a known tone-setter with his physicality)

I'm not counting out Vorhees or Jones until they suck whilst learning under an actual O-line coach.

That being said I'd love at least 1 backup plan for each

Vorhees should be an interesting one assuming he sticks around. He wasn’t good overall but still had some moments of very high highs. I’m very far from counting on it to be clear, but feels like the type of guy an actual OL coach would like to play around with to see if you can find more consistency in those high highs.

Dolphins kicker
He did. We really about to go into the season with Loop. Happy for his offseason contributions but I can’t trust the dude moving forward

I think having a player like Simpson (and hopefully what emery is) is a huge positive for us getting back to dominance in short yardage situations like red zone and being able to run; we really sucked in those stations guy on guy and bully ball as an option is huge.
