The General Front 7 Thread

He doesn't have to sell out for the run on play action as much as if those guys weren't as dominant but Mosley had demonstrated intelligence, instincts, athleticism, length, awareness of what's behind him and a preternatural ability to read the game that would make him a dominant force in any scheme behind any sort of dline

Now I know that Aaron Donald, khalil Mack and jadeveon clowney are all pro bowl level players on defense out of that same draft but I think you have to say that Mosley is at least as good as those guys - if he played in a larger market he'd be thought of publicly as probably the 2nd best ILB in the league

The most impressive thing about Mosley is that he seems to have taken yet another step and is now reading plays accurately pre-snap and baiting qbs into dangerous throws as evidenced on his int
It blows my mind just how much better he's gotten since year one. I had hoped he would improve at pass coverage after he struggled with that but I wasn't sure just how much better he would get after that. The fact he's at the point where he doesn't miss tackles and can read plays better than some QB's makes going back to reading posts around the league all the funnier.

There were posts from every fandom saying that there were 20 ILB's on the same level as Mosely, guys who just wracked up the tackle #'s and nothing else.

Tim Williams missed practice with an illness. At least it was not an injury.

On the old board there were a group of (idiot) posters who dogged on him. Saying that he is wasn't a "real" player. That Orr was clearly the better between the two due to the tackle numbers.

Mosley helps the defense tick. He's clearly the QB of the front 7 and by god we are lucky to have him. I don't think it's a stretch to say he's one of the smartest football players football IQ wise in the whole league. Remember, he was given he green dot when Daryl Smith, a damn smart player in his own right, was here with him. Lock the dude up. I know he's playing a "dying" position, but he's a big reason why we are as good as we are.
Anyone who tried to argue Orr over Mosley can eat a bag of dicks, like a thousand dicks. How stupid...

I didn't like that we picked him, I just KNEW we were taking HHCD because we had just taken Arthur brown and signed Daryl smith, and desperately needed a FS to let elam play SS(HAHAHAHA), but I never once negged him as a player.

Like seriously, anyone who bashes CJ Mosley for any reason, what made you the way that you are? Like why are you such fuckheads?

So if Tim Williams is out we only have 3 active olb - if that's the case what do you guys reckon is the plan?

My hope would be that in a pinch we can work around it with bam or onwuasor playing ilb and Correa having an occasional run snap on the edge although we essentially played last week with only 3 olbs

The only other option I see is sending one of the injured corners to i/r and promoting bo lokombo

Neither is really a great option so hopefully Timmy is good to go

Honestly they'd probably just play Correa there for the few snaps where 2 of Suggs/Judon/Bowser would need a breather. Correa barely got more snaps than Onwuasor so its not like there would be a big loss in the middle. I guess its really not that different from last week since ZDS went down in the first quarter anyway and the defense was still solid.

I said ORR was overrated.

Anyhow,

While im cautiosly optimistic vs the browns at home i'm terrified at the Jags D.

Malik Jackson, Calais Campbell, Dante Fowler Jr, Yannick Ngakoue and Ramsey, Telvin Smith, Aj Bouye, PP, Gipson, Church, Jack

its absolutely stacked and maybe the only D i'd take over ours and it will demolish our O

It's about damn time their defense gets it together. They have been stacking elite pieces for years and I've been mind boggled as to how they have been so average. I think this is the year Dante fowler breaks out and I think he's gonna be huge.

I actually agree with you two. That defense scares the hell out of me. Tons of firepower.

Too bad their offense likely suffered a fluke week and they have Bortles + an oline that's on Cinci's level of suck. Our defense can likely dish out as much damage as there's can. That game is going to be beyond ugly. Ultimately though I see us squeaking out a victory after Harbaugh uses his voodoo magic to end Forunette's career prematurely.

That's a bit harsh. But CJ is not as bad as these people who religiously follow the box score say. He does so much for the front(including quarterbacking it)7 that it's not even funny. Look at Orr last season. CJ made his life a hell of a lot easier by blowing up the blockers and allowing Orr to get those damn tackles. That interception? All CJ. He knew what play was coming. He significantly improved in coverage from year two to year three.

I hope to god we make that dude a raven for life. He's not a superstar, but he's the next best thing from having a Wagner or a Kechuley imho.

That defense scares me as well, but Maclin did say today on SportsCenter that the chemistry between Joe, him and others is improving through practice and has made considerable strides since week 1.

Idk looks to me like CJ is getting close to super stardom lol
Yeah, he's been 2nd team All-Pro twice and this year looks like he might be 1st team. I think this year he puts himself on Wagner and Kuechly's level. He might end up as our best defensive player by the time the season ends.

Just according to Harbs it was not serious.
Yeah but Harbaugh's definition of not serious ranges from he will practice next week to he will be ready to go week 15. I was hoping for more information to come out about it but I guess no new information yet.

id like to see willie henry being given a shot. he's explosive albeit a bit jernigan like in his penalties.
