The Humphrey and Williams Pick: I'm Digging Them-You?

I really thought Tim Williams was overrated on these boards but I still like the potential in this pick. I really hope he does turn out because this team needs a pass rush specialist after Dumervil left. I have seen him get close a few times but I am sure it is hard to get snaps at OLB right now. Suggs, Judon, Bowser, Smith, and Williams all playing pretty well. Actually I think Smith has surprised me more than anybody. I feel like I see #90 near the quarterback quite a bit. This team just needs more of that Williams mold of quickness off the edge so I really hope he develops quickly. Hopefully that interior pass rush returns when Brandon Williams returns.

He’s definitely getting close and forcing opposing qbs to pass sooner than they would like to.

I’d like to see him have more chances and especially on obvious passing downs.

its a shame because he got benched after losing contain on 1 play vs the raiders (and looking at it as an objective observer it looked unlucky rather than egregious) and then he wasnt healthy enough to get on the active 53 for the bears just as he was building some (albeit small) momentum

i really wish these coaches would give the young edge guys a little bit of rope - its like 1 mistake and they're out of there which pisses me off because while i guess theyll get the message they arent learning much on the bench tbh - bowser got benched after getting confused on a coverage look that allowed marcedes lewis to get behind him but its not like anyone on the defence played remotely well that game yet he got benched and no one else - and then williams nearly made a big play got slightly tripped up by penn's feet after making him look like a fool and lost the ability to change direction for a couple of steps which allowed ej manuel to get outside him

surely those were 2 opportunities to go up to these 2 kids and say look, here's what you did wrong, go and run it better next time rather than let them stew in self doubt and lose the early confidence they were building - bowser hasnt looked the same as he did the first 2 games and i dont think its entirely on the way the defence was playing - i think he's a little less confident

Feels like we've been an old team forever. I wonder if that finaly changes next year.

I wouldn't be against letting go of webb, suggs, weddle , carr and co

would it save us quite a bit of cap?

The only corner who had more instincts than Humph was Conley. Quincy was up ther too. But that's it. Instincts is one of Humphrey's most underappreciated aspects.
Sidney jones didnt? Kevin king? Lattimore? White? Not all of them better but they for sure have better instincts

Like i said after watching further film and seeing humphrey in the first few games this year, he's going to be a v.good corner in this league. Will he be a special all pro type? probably not BUT he's def worthy of a few pro bowls. Like i said, he reminds me of carlos rodgers.

He's well in the prince amukamara, carlos rodgers, jimmy smith bracket

he's a good player. Like i said, this isn't matt elam or perriman.
He is a good player for sure. He plays nice cvg. Ive always said that but he lacks instincts ( ball awareness, play rec) which could turn him into a great cb. imo, he plays like jalen collins from falcons. Plays very tight cvg, but never knew when to look for the ball or when he should anticipate throws

I didnt think conley would go as high as he did.

ill put my hand up and say i was the first guy on the old boards i knew about to be as high on him as i was - i dont think he was ever outside my top 4 corners throughout the process - i was surprised he went as high as he did but only because of the rape allegation otherwise i think he was good value where he was picked

Ah yes Sidney was up there too, forgot about him. But not Lattimore or White. Lattimore was just crazy fluid and athletic and White got away with a ton of grabbing

I think you have this severe lack of understanding of what instincts are.

I did not care for Humphrey, but the kid when on the field looks good. I am happy that we are not in a situation where we need to force him to come in and play like the kid for the Saints

I did say on the old boards that I would have nabbed Peppers or Foster with the pick instead. Foster especially
