WR/RB Thread

Im not sure Ive ever seen the team site throw a player under the bus like that. Same people who tried to sell us on guys like Tandon Doss and Tommy Streeter.
It literally only said he’s had mixed practices and some dropped passes. I don’t see the big deal.

I’d say that speaks volumes since the guy is already on the bubble for dropping passes, is due a roster bonus and is competing for a roster spot with at least 3 other players that are doing well. Harbs said no more guys that drop the ball. He gone.

They’re tired of fuckheads like perriman and Correa ruining their already questionable at best credibility

Compare to the reports from every other OTAs, then you see the big deal
Maybe because he I don’t know actually played well in the other ones. Once again, not a big deal. It’s the same as saying Lamar hasn’t been great at throwing outside the numbers and is still way behind Flacco. Not throwing anyone under the bus. Just observing.

It’s not whether or not he’s doing terrbile, the big deal is the shift in tone, these people will hype ANY receiver like they are the next megatron, they do it every year, and did it with perriman far more than any other wr, the fact that they aren’t probably means he is doing horrible out there

I wonder if some of that is the fact that he is likely getting cut so there is no point to hype him. The non team sources havn't been anywhere near as critical which could imply they are intentionally avoiding saying nice things so fans don't get angry over the cut.

Depends on how The Ravens feel about their options behind John Brown. We all know Brown has issues with staying healthy and there is no guarantee that he won't miss any games this season so The Ravens are going to need a deep threat to replace Brown. Maybe Chris Moore is that guy but a 2016 Breshad Perriman could be that guy too. I haven't heard anything about Perriman having bad OTA performance so far.

If a roster spot comes down to Perriman and Moore then I'm choosing Moore every time because he's at least shown the ability to make plays and is really good on special teams (which Perriman adds no value to special teams).

I really just don't want to see us waste a roster bonus on Perriman if there's little chance of him making the team. The fact that he's struggling through OTAs, according to some reports, would suggest that it might be the time to cut him loose and prevent the inevitable.

Not sure where those reports come from, I've read that apart from one drop he did well.
That report came from Luke Jones. IIRC the other reports initially said perriman did relatively well.
To overcome the drops and advanced route running is one thing, but he has mental issues. Perriman seems to be always down and Wallace had to talk to him after every game. You aren't cut out for pro sports if you can't take the mental part of it.

I get what you saying but I didn't get the feeling that Perriman was struggling in OTA's . He had a drop pass and etc but I don't think what was said should be interrupted that he was struggling. Chris Moore has the edge over Perriman when it comes to special teams but a 2016 Perriman has shown more as a receiver than Chris Moore. I don't really know what The Ravens may decide but if they decide to keep Perriman around then that's understandable. They need as much as competition they can get at the wide receiver position and I really think Micheal Crabtree, John Brown, Willie Snead, and Jaleel Scott are the only locks to make the team so far.

It would be anything but understandable to keep Perriman. That would make our FO officially insane.

I don't know, it's summer ... tis the season of beat writers being overly positive on player performance in practices. So whenever a negative report of any kind comes out, that's saying something. This negative report gives me the sense that Perriman is doomed, particularly since he is now in a position to have to really wow everyone to have the staff even entertain keeping him around.

It’s not a fucking negative report it’s just saying what happened on the field. Why didn’t anyone complain in half of the other reports that named other receivers who dropped passes? Or that Lamar was struggling throwing outside the numbers?

Chill the fuck out. A report says he dropped a pass or two and it’s the end of the damn world.

Yeah. It's only the end of the world after three dropped passes. After that feel free to panic as much as you want.

A receiver known for dropping passes for years and is a first round pick already on the brink of getting cut though... yeah it’s worth pointing out.

Perriman has made a lot of us look stupid because we all got on his train after 2016, and he went the complete opposite direction. For him to continue in that direction says something, and for these habitually overhyping ass reporters to not overhype him, also says something. Our first round pick is gone before he reaches the end of his rookie deal, that’s 2 in 3 drafts. Matter of fact, between 12-14 we are out 5 of 6 for rounds 1 and 2 with mostly being the only survivor, and 2015-16 is likely gonna be 3 of 4 gone by the end of next season with Stanley being the only survivor.

Holy fuck I hope we broke this trend with Humphrey/bowser and hurst/Jackson

Im not talking about the reports about the drops. Im talking about how anytime Perriman is mentioned on the official site it seems there is typically a statement of "he hasn't looked as good as he has the past couple offseasons." It was in the LFW column a couple days ago and has been in a couple of the mailbag videos and such.

Yeah, it seemed after they declined his fifth year the writing was on the wall for BP, but he had the fair chance in OTAs to excel and put some doubt there about his departure. I would now guess he's hung out there as a trade and if nothing happens prior to camp he will be cut. Too bad because he's a nice guy there were such high hopes for him.
