I've followed the situation, and while anything could happen, the speculation about a potential release at the end of July were basically halted once John Lynch showered Hyde with praise to the media and Kyle Shanahan talked him up in the same week. The speculation was partially fueled by the presence of Joe Williams, whom Shanahan apparently banged the table for during draft night. The reports that followed the trade/release talks have been that Hyde's been set as the starter, and that he's pancaked would-be blockers in TC. Williams, meanwhile, was just playing behind three different RBs even with Tim Hightower shelved. They were utilizing UDFA Matt Breida as their No.2 in their dress rehearsal. Now that doesn't entirely mean that the trade talks are off the table, but this could have likely been a motivational ploy. As it stands, it would be a surprise to see him outright not make the final 53.
