The Random Thought Thread

I'm actually not that concerned about our WRs. I like the guys we have in the locker room and history dictates we bring in a vet opposite Batemen. I'm sure well use one or two 4th rounders on WR but thats never been our forte so I wont hold my breathe on impact players there.

For sure we need to wait and see how this draft turns out, but I have a feeling their eyes are set on 2023. Just how they approached free agency and this draft so far. Not following their norm of swooping up low key free agents on short term stop gap deals. Really only Calais and that just a couple Mil.... Most of the work we've done is multi years deals with folks who will be with the team for at least 3 years.

Well see, long way to go in the draft and Offseason, just have an odd feeling for this year.

with the money involved at WR now, even if you've got WRs, you should probably be following the steelers old model of drafting a guy every year - doesnt have to always be high but should just constantly be adding young cheap talent to the group every year

There's absolutely no reason to bring Calais back if you're milking it for 2023. They're going for it. Just because the short term stop gaps haven't been signed yet doesn't mean they won't be. That market is still full of options this year.
I agree and this is kinda my point when I said they cant seem to make up their mind. Why make this move with Calais but have your offesne take a step back by ditching Hollywood? Like I get the money is low for calais and there are extenuating circumstances for Hollywood, but its a conflicting message. Also to be fair Calais is really the only example, you could argue Josh Bynes but he is making vet min anyways so who cares

did the offence step back though? we traded hollywood away for a starting OL... why's that indicative of the offence stepping back... especially with 2 days of the draft remaining and the whole rest of the offseason...

They've known Hollywood was leaving since the season ended basically. They aren't flip flopping. May not be apparent to us right now but they have a plan to fix it. And also speaks to why we've quietly been checking in on all of the big WRs that have been available. Don't mistake silence for inaction.

I think is a sure thing the offense went backwards. You have a proven commodity and replaced him with a unproven square peg attempting to fit in a round whole.

I believe in Tyler , but he will need help in our current scheme. No doubt in time he can adjust to make it work. Or we move on from Greg and the scheme adjust to Tyler

Yea for sure. It’s way to early for this conversation, just had me thinking. I also feel like the dark cloud looming(Lamar’s contract) got a little darker. But I’ll put that thought away for another day

i do really wonder if maybe davis wasnt even the guy at 14 we were locked in on...
i wonder if we were really interested in one of those top 4 WRs and they all got taken and we got Hamilton instead who was high on the board instead

exactly what I've been thinking.

This offense went backwards last year when the OL was a hot mess and we had to use bargain-bin RBs. I get it, I'm going to miss Hollywood too, but with better OL play and our RBs actually healthy then this offense should look much improved even without him.

To be fair I’ve never been a fan of Hollywood #still a little bitch lol @JAAM

i was just thinking from an organizational standpoint. Excited to see what happens tonight !

I personally think we need to get Christian Watson with our 2nd round pick even if it means trading up to get him. That'll be killing two birds with one stone. He can get past defenses and has an immense catch radius in the red zone. Perfect #2 receiver and better suited for the Ravens than Hollywood.

Could we package 3, 4th round picks to move back into the late 2nd? Does the compensation work?
no need to do that with the talent in the 2nd through 4th rounds. Although I don't see us using all of our 4th round picks as we could trade up or down to get into the 3rd and possibly trade down in the 2nd.

A friend(Miguel Montano) of a friend who played WR at Louisville back in the late 90s is at an alum party at Churchill Downs, says Lamar is there with them. He texted me a video but it’s pretty choppy, not good to post.

Interesting listen if you have some time. Really wish him the best. Also telling how he says at the end he was speaking up for the wr room.
