The Random Thought Thread

The AFC Playoff Picture through 6 Weeks:

1. Chiefs
2. Patriots
3. Bengals
4. Titans
5. Chargers
6. Ravens
 
Kinda nervous that ESPN has us 5 on their power rankings (Bengals 7 and Steelers 9). The Ravens never do well when people expect things from them.
 
Have to go 3-1 during the next four games. Panthers should be the easiest and I'd sacrifice a loss to Brees if it means 2 division wins. Possibility of 4-0, but 3-1 is a must with how this schedule will end. Happy we have a bye right before the Bengals game. That Browns loss might really come back to bite us in the ass. Always struggle with the Chargers and the Chiefs will most likely be fighting for home field. We have great shot at not only playoffs, but a top 2 seed if the offense stops falling asleep during games.

i think what's most interesting about this team compared to the last few years of ravens teams is that when we've lost its been because we've played down

and more than that - philosophically our units have imposed their brand of play on the opposing team's units not the other way around - in both our losses it was down to execution rather than pure talent/skill/scheme etc.

teams play against our brand of football when they play us because we have been stylistically dominating our games (even when we've not played well)

To be honest I think the team going 2-2 during these next few games would impress me... That is not an easy schedule. I would be ecstatic with 3-1. I really don't see the Bengals as a threat after Eifert went down. They don't have that consistent middle of the field threat anymore to compliment Boyd and Green. I think that team is relatively easy to bottle up now. Now I am more afraid of the Steelers because they are starting to heat up at the right time.

That defense is still dumpster juice and Jimmy being back is HUGE. Also, the entire division is too close. We can't afford to lose any of those division games.

Oh this should be understood to everyone affiliated with the Ravens. Personally, they need to just win every fucking home game, not just the divisional games.

tbh the Steelers really aren't heating up. They are no better right now then they have been all season. Don't let them winning 2 games fool you

I don't see why they NEED 3-1. The last 6 games has Raiders, Bucs Falcons, and Browns (at home). That should be 4 wins so even losing to Chargers and Chiefs 2-2 gets you to 10 wins and playoffs.

I don't expect losses to both, in fact I would not be surprised if they beat both or more likely split. I think they will likely finish 3-1 in next 4 and figure 11-13 wins is likely where this team ends up.

Fans and the team always seem to have this idea until another sorry ass team beats us and we're relying on outside factors to make the playoffs. Don't leave anything up to chance. When you leave yourself no outs towards the end of the season you're setting yourself up to fail.

The key words to this are "need" and "should." This team has a propensity of losing to teams we should beat on paper regardless of location. This team also has a propensity of making things more difficult than it should be. In fact, I'm convinced that they subconsciously enjoy making things more difficult. This is why they need to leave no doubt and win every home game left on our schedule and a couple of more road games just so there isn't any doubt of making the playoffs.

Why does everyone think it’s only the Ravens that lose to teams they shouldn’t etc? That’s every single team in the NFL outside of maybe like New England and even they slip up. The NFL is every week anything can happen. It’s not just us. Every other fan base thinks the same thing lol
 
If teams did not lose to teams they shouldn't I would be up way more than 1 game in the pick em league (stupid Bears/Vikings/Packers etc)

of course objectively that happens - but it kills you when its your own team...
and the other reason is because in recent seasons those unnecessary losses have cost us a playoff berth in the end
