The Random Thought Thread

Punter is the easiest position to transfer skills from college to pros. He'll be A-Ok. He'll be a great player, for years to come. I don't think we should compare him to Koch because Koch was his own guy
Not really trying to compare him to Koch. It's just Koch was great every year except last. The question is getting at are we expecting to have an upgraded Punter this year and get back on track in that area of special teams.

The Harbaugh and Marlon comments on Lamar definitely indicate something is up. It's not hard to say Lamar had something personal come up if it was that. He's not injured so something is up.

I wouldn't necessarily jump to any bad conclusions though. He's going into year 5 and has moved to a more traditional offseason program with Dedeaux the last couple of years that was recommended directly by the team. Remember that these are voluntary workouts. While I'd love to see him there, I don't think it's a bad thing that he's not. He's a "veteran" now and doesn't need to be.

definitely something, but they all seem to know what it is but don't seem concerned by it...
so no idea lol

it is a little odd purely because he's a QB and they do historically tend to be more present at earlier activities but it's not going to make or break a season

the "why" is the only interesting thing about this

Yeah I'm just not buying that it's some holdout or pissed at the team type of thing. I'd rather him be there now but all signs point to him showing up when he has to. My point was more to shred the "doom and gloom" aspect.

oh i dont think this is the start of any sort of holdout or anything like that - i think we'd have heard lamar put something out there if that was the case

just think the comments from marlon and harbs make it seem like there's something going on that the team's aware of that means he's going to be here but not yet

For sure. Definitely definitely definitely not jumping to any conclusions like being disgruntled or holding out but something is off

Bateman was on Marlons podcast. Long but good listener. Not going to ruin everything but seemed like Packers would have had a nice replacement if we didn't pick before them.

yep, I've always thought the Packers would've drafted Bateman, but than again you never can tell with the Packers and WR's in the 1st round.

If Lamar is missing OTAs because he is getting more out of Dedeaux than Urban, maybe it's time to move on from Urban. Obviously if that's not the reason then there's no reason to move on from Urban. I just can't make heads or tails of this and I personally won't accept its voluntary and he's a vet now so no big deal. That's not Lamar and that's not how QB1s behave.

There is no Aversion to working and no one loves football more than Lamar. So it's gotta be that Lamar is less than thrilled about how OTAs are compared to something else. How could this be anything other than an opportunity cost situation.

If it is, the Ravens should be trying to figure out a way to make Lamar happier and therefore more successful.
