The Random Thought Thread

Watching today I think I have come to 2 conclusions: with Allen turning into an INT machine Mahomes has a massive lead in the MVP race and of the top 12 QBs I think Mahomes is the only one who I can say has been good all year without having to ignore a multi week stretch. This makes me wonder what did defenses figure out in the offseason to suddenly just be able to shut down all these great QBs? We expected it from Rodgers and Brady due to roster strength and injury but the rest was a surprise. It does not even matter how your top 12 shapes out (I kind of accept most orders as valid) but none of them not named Mahomes have looked great and that has made the AFC look vulnerable.

If our D can get close to their potential - and they started playing better lately, before the reinforcements of this week - I am hopeful. Dobbins, Gus and Mark should be healthy for the second part of the season. Between Lamar, good run game and good D, I reckon we are in with the shot.
See! Now this gives me hope! Cause you know, I demand perfection and I have a hard time having confidence in our boys to do what they need to do when they play below their potential for weeks. It scars me, man!

cover-2 shells

the same thing that it was always said you had to do to mahomes, now everyone's doing to basically everyone... points are down league-wide this year

defences arent necessarily winning but they're asking explosive offences to dink and dunk their way down the field in small chunks and forcing them to be patient and that's created more plays and more mistakes for some of those offences

mahomes has been able to adjust because he's been facing these types of defences longer

also defences being more able to adapt to personnel with more and more safeties - lots of teams putting 3 safeties on the field a bunch and having lots of eyes in the zones

I know exactly what you mean.
It's been a sleepless season for me so far.
Sure, I always state my immediate frustration in some areas about our squad come game time but of course I want them to win every time they step onto the field. And the teams that they "should beat" on paper; I want them to actually dominate them and do that! But oftentimes, they don't! They get off to slow starts and they struggle with playing Ravens ball. Hopefully, they can show us something different tomorrow night by clicking on all cylinders the entire game for the "W".

I think it really just comes down to health.. even though bengals isnt all thay great, borrow has been playing really good

He has been playing good now but started off terribly for the first month which is what I mean when I say everyone but Mahomes has a "is good overall but" qualification. Burrow started terribly, Allen has become an INT machine, Rodgers has been awful all year, the same is true of Stafford and Brady, Wilson has been made to look like a system QB carried by his coach, Dak got hurt, Lamar had a rough month, and Carr has been terrible all year.

Like if you told me at the start of the year the most consistent QB would be Mahomes I would say "that makes sense" but if you told me the second most consistent (note not best but consistently playing at a high level) would be Geno Smith, I would assume you meant he was consistently terrible.

I hear @rossihunter2 and figure he is onto something that the change in playstyle has a lot to do with it but I do wonder why it also seems to be causing an increase in turnovers. Note unlike points I do not have numbers to back this but it feels like we are seeing a lot more turnovers this year compared to years past when they seemed to be falling every year.
