The Random Thought Thread

http://dailysnark.com/nfls-ir-team-half-season-win-super-bowl/

Interesting article that basically has put together a super star team from current players on IR.

Spoiler alert: Yanda made the team

christ that team is stacked - and if you were to supplement its depth with all the guys we've lost to i/r it would have legitimately the deepest strongest roster in the league

what would interest me is if that team would get anywhere near under the salary cap...

tavon young should also have been in that team though

Here is a thought.

We have a lot of third ( fourth? Fifth ? ) string players on the field.
In the NFL, starters are cream of the crop. About as athletic as you can possibly get. True freaks of nature.
Not so much the further down the depth chart you go. Some (many ) of the players on our team, in every way shape and form are just NOT the level of athlete to those they are competing with. They aren't even in the same league. ( no pun intended ) They are getting beat and bullied from one end of the field to the other.

Man that has to take a toll on your psyche. Knowing you are just not good enough to compete, and being reminded of that play after play after play and knowing it is your job to get back out there and take it. Doing your best, but knowing it is not enough you are just overpowered, and out skilled.

I don't know about you, but I would find it difficult to compete in that scenario. I would at least like to have a fighting chance.

Now don't misunderstand me, I am not saying they should have a safe room with coloring books. It is professional sports, survival of the best and the fittest. I am saying I fully get how debilitating it can be to want to compete at a certain level, but to be completely unable. Sometimes it just wears you down physically and emotionally to the point where you just want it all to end.
I think that could explain some of the lackluster effort of some of our players. Mainly those on the lines.

Or maybe I am wrong. I don't know.

Here's a random thought. Did anyone watch SNF? The camera that they ended up having to use due to fog was like 100000x better than the one that they normally use. It showed from behind the offense, so you could see all the blocks as they happened from a lineman's view, see the actual routes as they developed, and had a much clearer view of the entire field.

I honestly would LOVE to see that camera angle every Sunday.

Yeah, that was cool.

Totally agree. They are not using that camera enough. It was so cool to see from that angle.

maybe its an angle that they want people to buy gamepass for? idk why else they wouldnt use it - its the kind of angle that guys like baldy go back and show off line play with and it gives a realy sense of what the qb's seeing in the pocket - i think it really adds to the tension - i love it

Yeah, truth uses gamepass and it shows these views. If I had more time I’d get it myself.

it just seems more dramatic - so many sports change camera angle when necessary to heighten drama or change angle as the "narrative" dictates it does seem strange to me that we get 1 camera angle over and over again for every single snap apart from field goals/pats and punts where they actually change angle mid way through the punt - given that often tv records slightly ahead of time - surely they can react and use multiple angles if they need to in the live telecast... idk

You are right. You are wrong.

If someone were to hang signs up on the closest overpasses that are on the way to the stadium (on 95 and 295) on the day of the Monday Night Game vs Houston, what would you all want the signs to say?

How shocked/surprised would you be if they were able to pull off a miraculous trade for Flacco by the deadline? I can fantasize can't I?

I still can't believe that Flacco didn't turn the ball over once against the Vikings given the "offense" around him. Sheesh.

that's precisely whats going on. we have some decent players but an injury here and there and we become "suddenly thin". we have no depth and can't compete. we have an overall talent gap we can't bridge. we have draffed like Alfred e Neumann for many years now and many of our free agents are no better.
