The Random Thought Thread

Ah this is a case of wanting to knock someone down to build someone else up.

I would say Lamar got a pretty good pass honestly, and honestly I would say all of those teams had better weapons than the Chiefs. Just to demonstrate though if I told you a QB was MVP 4 years ago, but since then has not matched those numbers, has more turnovers, and has not been able to finish the past 2 seasons, I would assume you would say 7-9 range for a ranking is fair. That is where the lists in 2023 had him.

Now the reason Mahomes gets more leeway is because he has more accolades. He has 2 MVPs (at the time Lamar had the 1), 3 all pro selections, and, at the time, 2 Super Bowls. Basically there was a multi season sustained period of success you can point to and go “well we have all of this evidence that he is not a flash in the pan so something is wrong”.

To back up a little to demonstrate how Lamar got a lot of leeway, let’s look at Hurts. Hurts a fairly great season 2 years ago and had an amazing Super Bowl where he dueled Mahomes and after that the lists had him 2-4. Fast forward just one bad year, which to note was not as statistically bad as 2020-2022 for Lamar, and he is not in the top 10 on almost any of the lists. The big difference is that people saw the Eagles and went “with that OLine and those weapons you should be dominant if you are top 10 but you look completely mediocre.” whereas for Lamar it was “They really need to build a team around Lamar and keep him healthy”. It’s why 4 years after his breakout yearLamar was considered top 10 but only one year removed Hurts wasn’t.
Please stop. Lamar is Messi and MJ without the championships. Think back to this being 1990 of the Bulls season. MJ finally has all his weapons and the Pistons (3 time NBA champs) aren't going to bully them starting now. Isaiah Thomas isn't going to win championships when a far superior player in MJ gets beat by him in the playoffs.

The run started in 1990 and didn't end till 6 straight championships later. Expect that from Lamar beginning now.

It’s time to put some new bullet points under the toe drag rule. This should absolutely be a catch. This is 2 toe tap, the heel down was clearly separate from the second toe tap. I don’t see how this is any different from dragging 2 toes from inbounds to out of bounds. You can drag toes out of bounds and it’s a catch without having to lift your feet off the ground first, but falling backwards you would have to lift your feet? It doesn’t make sense, it’s a blank space in the rule book that needs filled. Based on all logic surrounding the toe drag and what can be counted as a catch, this is just an iteration of the toe drag.

player being punished for toe-tapping
if he'd just gone with his heel he'd have been called good

but they call it a toe-tap/toe-drag so you go for that method

I've been trying to figure this out since yesterday... did the chain gang dap up Lamar on that td throw lol

And Sam Hubbard and that jags D lineman about to start a support group

Bill Belichek giving a very accurate back handed compliment to us. Said on McAfee that we beat ourselves and it's not really what other teams have done to us it is what we do to ourselves. If we don't beat ourselves no one else will.

That's good that in theory it should be correctable but what an absolutely unacceptable place to be right now.

sure, but no one gave lamar a pass when he was throwing to desean jackson and co.

and mahomes is making mistakes on a weekly basis, it's not just wr drops etc. he lost rashee rice to injury on an INT that was his fault

Accept that a majority of fans don't know shit about ball or actually watch the games.

I'm seeing Bill fans talk about lack of weapons and drops. Seen some say you need to watch the games in defense of Allen's play. Where was this last year when complaing about a certain MVP?

To be clear my feelings on MVP last year I said Allen and CMC had a case. Hill would have been next closest. Didn't really think anyone else deserved it.

The problem I have with most people is they can't be objective.
Matter of fact, they continued to give Lamar shit if he didn't have a good game stats wise. There isn't a single fanbase, especially in the AFC, that I'm gonna feel sympathy for.

Bills fans will continue to argue that Lamar did not deserve the last MVP when the Bills got better when they took the ball out of Josh's hands last year. All his high stat games were when they were losing and couldn't win.

They said they would be fine without Stefon Diggs and sure they will still likely win their division, but look at how well they've played the past two weeks. Imagine the flack Lamar would get if he threw 9/30 like Josh did yesterday.

On a happier note, consider the trade of the century.
Give up: multiple first round picks, hand out a record-setting fully guaranteed contract
Get: a backup-level QB (15/28, 125 yards yesterday) with serious behavioral problems. 6 games in year 1, 6 games in year 2, crap play in year 3
Equals: Only one part in this deal got a Happy Ending. *pause*

..only the Stains can manage something like this. You'd think that Elway might have come close in his QB recruiting, but not even he could manage such a feat.
I can't wait for the 150M cap hit when they release the disgusting fucker.

this and the DVOA kind of agree with him

Tired of this shit…. All my tampa and florida guys.. yall boys be safe. I think the last hurricane heard me call it a “ baby” so now its back with a vengeance at category 5… tampa, is expected to have 600k without power at this rate..
Leave if you can. We’ve had a ton of hurricanes but not being a direct hit like this. Not worth the risk. Stay safe brother

I’m also biased because I hate Ohio state QBs. The CFB world always tries to hype them up but, 90% are just a product of playing in a trash big ten were receivers are wide open constantly. Stroud maybe the first successful one
he definitely is the only successful one, although many of their wide receivers have done well in the NFL. BTW, I had the same bias and last year has me rethinking that.
