The Random Thought Thread

I’m genuinely amazed most of the money was bet on Tyson to win. That plus Paul being a massive favorite meant Vegas made a killing on this fight.

I just don’t get why people are shocked. Tyson lacked the stamina to box a full match 20 years ago. Did people think aging 20 years would give him more?
Not shocked but I didn’t think Mike was gonna just avoid hits the whole time. He had one burst of punches as soon as the bell rang, and he hid from Jake the rest of the fight. And Jake clearly coulda KOd him

I was wide awake last night so threw the fight on and it was exactly as I expected. Mike Tyson looked 58. Had brief thought in round 1 that hey, maybe this will be something worth watching. Then we got to round 2 and Mike’s legs were already done. A weird props to Jake Paul for realizing that and respecting a legend, because Mike could have been out multiple times.

Yep.... Chiefs vs Steelers at 1pm, and Ravens vs Texans at 4:30pm. I just hate that for the second year in a row, we have to be the road team for Christmas. Can we get a home holiday game next year, be it Thanksgiving night or Christmas please?
I hate the holiday games, but I'm conflicted because it gives me an excuse to not be social. A game on a Wednesday is just ridiculous though

lol, even when he was in his prime in the 80s, he didn't go the distance. He didn't have to as guys were knocked out in 3 rounds or less.

I’m not sure it was respecting a legend so much as understanding that if he goes for a finish that means Tyson might be able to go for one as well. Paul is younger, Paul is faster, Paul has more reach, and Paul has more stamina but a Tyson punch is still a Tyson punch.

Basically it’s a George Foreman situation. If you give him an opening, he can finish you in one punch, so the best bet is to keep moving and just pull a Floyd Mayweather and just land punches and win on points.

Past round 3 or 4 Tyson didn’t have Tyson punches anymore. On the rare occasion he did swing, they were so far from landing and had no power behind them at all

Guilty lol but I’m a millennial
I thought Tyson was gonna come out stronger in rounds 1 and 2, I knew if Tyson didn’t catch him with a combo early it was gonna get ugly. But man I thought he was gonna be hell to deal with in the first round but he really didn’t do shit at any point

The whole thing, besides a couple of the fights, was TOTAL SHIT. The talking head talent was sooooooooo bad, fuck.

Guys imo there's nothing to discuss here. They both agreed to not hurt each other. The number of punches thrown was very low and the connection rate was abysmal. That was a perfectly executed scam.
The greatest con man of our time... Jake Paul

The Tyson I saw had no shot. Not sure he had enough energy, power, or reaction time to get anything done after round 2. He’s a legend but he’s also 58. It showed.

Jake Paul isn’t an absolute scrub. He should be taken more seriously than just “YouTuber trying to box”

I don’t think he’s any kinda world champ but people oughta chill with the narrative

Floyd mayweather was a much bigger conman for a much longer time, and he was the original at it

His training videos he looked way different than last night. Soon as I saw him come out that tunnel I figured he wasn’t gonna do shit. He looked rough.

And training is just that… training. They can easily hide all of the struggle he went through to only show the good moments.
