That's bad for him. His only question was health, the last thing he needed was a rapid one year change going from athletic and flexible to completely musclebound
 
Had to look up Carl Lawson after that pic. Came across news of Teryl Austin being cincy’s new DC. I remember a lot of us wanted him to be our DC. Didn’t know he went back to the AFC North.

Piece on Marlon. One part mentions Wink wanting to keep Marlon on Brown last year, but Pees wouldn't.

It's weird how many players have come out and basically said pees doesn't run a player friendly scheme and it's the pees way or the highway as far as skillset goes. To hear our most veteran leader AND our newest young star defender both come out and strongly imply that pees simply put them in bad positions and didn't let them use their talents really inspires some hope for our talent level

It is crazy - was just watching the defensive players’ pressers and it comes across strong

The interesting takeaways seem to be

That Wink is letting the players help build the defence and develop it - and they’re learning the playbook while designing the defence a little bit - specifically it seems like CJ is being leaned on which is great - he’s a cerebral player and if he’s contributing to the design of the defence he’s gonna be even better at calling the defence and adapting on the field

Further to that it was mentioned that they are being allowed more freedom to affect change based on what they say which was an interesting nugget

But a lot of the players have talked about taking the chains off or not being held back but I thought it was most interesting that Brandon Williams was talking about wink letting the players be themselves and not trying to turn them into robots - my hope is that this is a significant sign that we are not gonna keep putting square pegs in round holes

Bonus:
You just know that if Suggs has input into this defence that he’s gonna advocate for some organised chaos

I remember articles where Pees was pumped up especially one that quoted Suggs. Now with Pees gone now it all comes out. So that just tells ya to trust your eyes and don't believe the words that come out of peoples mouths. Especially Harbs.

Of course with Wink everything is gonna be hunky dory. :huh:

It's pees and harbaugh, no player is gonna throw one under the bus and risk the doghouse lol. Now that he's gone players can speak their minds and we are trusting our eyes, our eyes have shown us for years that pees' defense was off, It emphasized the system and not the players, it put square pegs in round holes.

I have never once said our defense will be fine with wink, idk if he's a good coordinator or not, but I know that pees has a broken scheme plain and simple. So many players wasted away here, so many defensive prospects we don't even bother to look at because they aren't a scheme fit, we get a talented player who isn't a scheme fit and watch them struggle or even not see the field for stupid reasons (Jernigan, bowser, twill, etc.) we see far inferior players fail time and time again because the whole deception factor in pees scheme calls for less impactful players to play because they may be slightly more well rounded than another player who should be getting the snaps.
 
What up all. Just wanted to poke my head in to say how much I love the off season we've had and that I can't wait to see our new players hit the field.
Best off season I can remember, love all the signings.
