The Random Thought Thread

he's a FA after the 2019 season. But cutting him this off season frees up ~7m in cap space. Earl Thomas would be very nice in that case.
I have a feeling Weddle tries and gambles too much and this leads to all those blown coverages.
I don't see Weddle leaving. He's a huge fan favorite and locker room favorite, plus he's one of the defensive leaders.

I still think Jensen is the one who got away. It’s hard to find a good strong center and we had one and let him walk. I think we outsmart ourselves there. I was fine with letting Wagner and sort of even KO but Jensen no. It’s hard to find a C and we tried for years after losing Birk
Jensen cost way too much money and was a bit overrated. Sure he's much better than what we have but he was only average in both run and pass blocking and his pass blocking was much better. If we keep Jensen there is no way we retool our entire WR core with Crabtree, Snead and Brown.

He was still available to us even after the first trade back, wasn't he?
he was picked 17th so he was only available to us at 16. I loved Derwin James and would have been thrilled if we drafted him, but I also feel Hurst is going to be a beast, Andrews just fell into our lap.

He was overrated but only because he had a record setting cap for a C. He’s an above average and very solid player and I’m not sure he’s elite but he’s very good and has that angry play to him. I think our run game and pass game would both be better with him. You’re right we couldn’t carry him and the WR but maybe we could’ve been more creative with cap hits who knows, but I do think we miss him

Do you think the Ravens would take Hurst again if we somehow knew how it would play out? Just curious to see what you think. I think the real question is would you have taken James over Hurst? I don’t preclude Jackson because I think trading up would’ve still been possible so I am curious to hear how you feel about James for Hurst. It seems Hurst was our target all along to me and that we planned to trade up for Jackson.

Derwin james a beast. Imo hurst wasnt worth a 1st.. tbh idk if i would ever select a TE in the 1st unless he is just off the charts.. im just happy minkah didnt fall to us..

There is no way we take Hurst. In the 1st round???

Weddle Key Stat -ZERO interceptions halfway through the season. Not good for a free safety
Weddle is weak in areas but the thing is our secondary went from one of the worst to one of the best as soon he stepped on the field due to his leadership and coordination skills.

Who were Weddles predecessors? Kendrick Lewis, Hill and Trawick. I expected our secondary to look a lot better with him instead of the other 3.
The thing is no one's denying his leadership and communication skills, but the age and speed are definitely two things to consider.
I like aggressive players, but he bites on too much stuff and he doesn't have the speed to recover in this case

Having a player named James Hurst made this very confusing for a second.

Coache's film finally came out for the Ravens-Panthers and I watched both Snead PI calls.

The only reason to throw a flag was for arson because Snead burned his man two times with absurdly strong route running. At no point in time did I see anything that resembled PI. He used his hands for hand checking at the stem of his route, but his routes were too clean and he just left his man in the dust. I have no idea how that got called.
