The Random Thought Thread

Fun fact, our record over the previous 5 seasons is .500 right down the middle. So nothing has improved, Harbaugh has molded us into a perennial 8-8 team.

Outside of Joe, of all offensive players on this team Yanda has the highest cap hit at 10M. After that it’s Stanley at 5.6M who is on his rookie deal followed by John Brown at 5M. At our skill positions John Brown is our highest cap hit. That’s just not going to get it done. This team needs to spend money and invest in offense cause there’s a whole lot of players on the defense making a lot of money and it’s not doing the team much good at the moment.

They have to commit to building a solid O line. If they don’t, everything else is just a waste of time.

What I like about Lamar is he wants to be great and he seems to put in work. I think that’s what did Joe Flacco in because he stopped growing. If you love what you do then you continue to develop regardless. If anyone has served in the military then maybe you’ll understand this but Joe Flacco is your traditional National Guard guy. He comes in and does his one weekend a month and two weeks in the summer, but don’t ask him to do anything between his drills. He won’t do it and I think that’s the difference in greatness. Flacco lost his drive to be great and has become stale and stagnant much like our team.

Some people love to shit on Lamar but what I always see from him is ingame adjustments, he always improves over the course of a game. Thats something.

Those people are either Flacco fanbois or racists.

While I'm in a random thought thread - why the fuck are we carrying RGIII all year on the roster? Could we not get anything in a trade window?

So if the season was over, you guys wouldn't believe which pick in the first round we would have. Shocking..... You guys ready?

Lucky Number 16

I want the team to win, but bringing in Lamar after Flacco moves the team down field doesn't make any sense, it kills the rhythm, and usually results in no gain. Its almost like they are setting the team up to fail. Does Marty think he will get the HC job if he gets Harbaugh fired?
What effect would Martys use of Lamar have on any QB?
I think Harbaugh needs to deactivate Lamar. He is not helping.

We were all concerned about the OL and now they're legit. I understand Stanley and Hurst are out but you need the OL to also open holes in the run game too. They did a decent job today and it feels like the run game has improved since Zeus has taken over at RT...

How can you watch the games and say Lamar isn’t helping?? His plays have gotten more and more successful as the season has progressed.

I like Lamar's progression. He's improved really well and I hope he get's his shot. I would like to wait another year but it looks like we might not have that choice. I can't wait to see what we got in Lamar honestly.

We were complaining about it all offseason but our front office seemed to think surrounding Yanda and Stanley with practice squad bums was going to have a good outcome, I know we couldnt trade for 3 All Pro linemen but we could have traded for one or two capable starters. Its no wonder we're 27th in rushing yards and couldnt move the ball against the Steelers.

Again, this is objectively false big picture. Lamar’s zone read plays have been the only effective run game we’ve had, what happened this week is the Steelers did everything to contain the outside run and Marty was calling wildcat power sweeps in the red zone and the Steelers were ready for it, and Marty didn’t adjust.

If that redzone power sweep that went for -2 was instead a zone read with lamar and Collins, we probably have another TD on the day, no defense has been successful against it yet.

Baby Zeus with the pancake of Watt....... a thing of beauty.

I knew back in May that ignoring the loss of Ryan would come back to haunt us.

i don’t understand why some of you guys think it’s better for lamar to sit until next year. the best experience is live game reps and he’s the future. we aren’t in win now mode so let’s get started with the future. i don’t think lamar will have any advantage over the other rookie starting qbs next year because he didn’t get game reps, he NEEDS them to develop. and on the play where he could’ve scored it’s on joe to read that defense and see no one followed lamar, any other vet qb would’ve saw that

I agree with you and don’t want to rush LJs development either. His mechanics have improved vastly. James Urban was a great sighting this offseason.
