The Random Thought Thread

Anyone think we need a new OLB coach? Maybe a pass rush specific coach? I find it disturbing that bowser still is doing almost nothing, players look different in person and what I saw from bowser at the game Sunday was a RIDICULOUSLY quick player who is more than willing to use his hands, I’m starting to believe our lack of pass rush is a coaching issue, because Tim Williams when he suits up again should be likely our best pass rusher yet he might end up a healthy scratch when he recovers, and bowser is a goddamn good player and I’m convinced based on his collective body of tape and I truly believe our OLB coaches are doing a terrible job.

Harbaugh was always willing to create a new coaching position to add a guy he thought could help, he did it with Castillo and Roman, the former did very little for us but you get the point. There’s gotta be a coach out there you can partner up with the OLB coach to teach edge rush, because our OLBs have done well in every aspect but pass rushing despite some of them being natural rushers. Something ain’t stirring the pot here.

maybe part of the problem is that all our pass rushers seem to get coaching from the linebackers and DL coach - and maybe its coincidence but i feel like our pass rush disappeared after Clarence Brooks stepped away (and then died) - Joe Cullen seems to be overexcited all the time on the sideline but he seems to me like he's a more-bark-than-bite type defensive guy in the vein of gregg williams (not saying he's doing anything illicit like williams did) - whenever we see clips of Cullen i feel like he's lost his voice from shouting at the DL and pass rushers so much

we dont have an OLB coach - Wink was our linebackers coach but that was all-encompassing and our new coach is mike mcdonald - and i have no idea if he's any good at all given that he's been part of our coaching staff for 5 years but basically bounced around as an assistant to the positional coaches

I believe at one point wink was an outside linebackers coach and he was changed to an all encompassing LB coach.

We need a specific pass rush coach, get these damn olbs to get the qb and stop being so hellbent on fundamentals and edge setting, the talent is there, I strongly believe the coaching is not
 
It would be nice to have Monachino back who may have helped some guys. It does seem like we’ve lost some of that pass rush development but I don’t know if it’s the coaches or the players because Tim Williams has been fine. Also can’t forget Judon has developed probably thanks to these coaches

I'm not so sure it's the specific pass rush coaching that is the issue.

Bowser was never really pass rusher and definitely doesn't look like pro pass rusher in the making. ZDS is ZDS.
Suggs still does well, considering the mileage. Judon has been coached up well. Timmy is good, needs more opportunity once he's healthy again.

Our major problem is a lack of the quality pressure/rush inside.

Judon credits Suggs for much of his development

Maybe its just me but our whole pass rush is terrible.. i dnt see anything good from timmy. Im a fan of judon but outside of the raiders when it basically already over, he hasnt done nothing. Suggs is suggs, his IQ alone is gonna make him threat. i dont see anything good from our pass rush.

Tim was the most consistent pressure bringer on the team before he got hurt...
 
although kenneth dixon can’t stay healthy. every time he comes back i can’t help but get excited for what he brings to the offense. i’m not expecting him to get a lot of pt, i’m just hoping he can capitalize on his opportunities. i hope he gets activated before the game

He’s just such a good runner. His luck has to turn around eventually right? Hell, even Campanaro had a healthy season last year lol.

So words are now justification for a pro athlete hitting a woman, only if the race card is involved though! If that was a goddamn white player who’s mom just died and someone was making fun of it there would be zero attempts to justify it
