The Random Thought Thread

I know that myself and others were calling for Engram to be ousted as our WRs coach for the past several years so I'm honestly not surprised that now the WRs are looking better with a viable coach. Culley seems like an awesome dude too just from hearing a few of his interviews.

Hmmmm I dont know about that. Maybe The Ravens wide receiver core is looking better because maybe The Ravens actually drafted better at the wide receiver position. Not discrediting David Culley as a coach but he didnt help Jordan Lasley. Chris Moore was showing growth as a receiver last year under Bobby Engram. I cant totally get on board with the idea that Culley coaching is whats helped Jaleel Scott make a big turn around from his rookie season. I honestly think Scott just really took the off season seriously and worked on his craft along with his confidence. Willie Snead is what he is and The Raven two rookie receivers are still question marks but Hollyhood Brown and Myles Boykin seem more polished as receivers coming out of college than Breshad Perriman and Chris Moore. I honestly dont think Bobby Engram was given awhole lot to work with and its hard to judge him mainly for the wide receiver poor performance the past two years.

I predict an absolute blow out of Miami. We have had their number for awhile and I don't think Fitz magic has anything left in the tank

Well I just want us to start with a bang and win the first 2 games. More importantly I want to beat up on Baker in game 4 more than anything else.

Yo if we dont beat Miami convincingly and other teams see our weaknesses we'll be in for a rude awakening. My money is on Harbs holding us back yet again. Not being a daisy cutter just keeping it real. Anybody denying it is just wearing their purple goggles to tight.

Every game is a trap game until it isn't. That's the approach the Ravens must have for success. Be creative and take care of the ball on offense and get turnovers on defense. We'll be alright folks.

Sunday Night Football is bringing back the timeless "Waiting All Day for Sunday Night" with Carrie Underwood and Joan Jett.

Not sure you do, but OK, NP. I mean they had some problems with Pburgh and sometimes Cleveland as well. Division games are generally tough, although none of it had anything to do with anyone being intimidated.
I totally agree that divisional games are always the toughest. I was a bit harsh on him when I used the word of him being intimidated in Cincinnati, but I was only using that word because you had said he was never intimidated in Foxboro. So I responded with the Cinci comment. His record playing the Bengals was bad, but again that isn't all on him. In regards to him never being intimidated in Foxboro, it wasn't all on Joe. We almost always had a very good game plan against the Pats and Pees knew how to play them. The entire team got up for those games.

I don't think Joe was ever really intimidated.

Brent Urban was a late signing by Tennessee that reopened a 4th round comp pick to the Ravens for John Brown. But Urban gets cut, Baltimore may have to respond with cutting Bethel in order to preserve that 4th rounder. I don't see them cutting Bethel.

If Urban makes the Titans roster and we cut Bethel, then we will end up with a 5th round comp pick for Suggs.

Lasley just couldn't catch the ball. He has always been a pretty good route runner. I believe the Scott turnaround is a combination of coaching and Scott working on his craft, like you said.

Have there been any indications he’s not making the Titans?

I’m ridiculously worried about this pass rush. Having an elite secondary doesn’t mean shit if we can’t get to the QB. Judon, Timmy and company better have career years

We are fine. I am actually more optimistic about this team than I've been in a while - good young players, exciting coordinators, no-nonsense FO moves. I like it.

FWIW, our pass rush wasn't that amazing last season (Titans game notwithstanding). I think Judon is in a contract year and T-Will and Tyus seemed impressive during the preseason. I'm nervous about the slot CB position with Tavon's injury but we'll see.
