The Random Thought Thread

As long as Lamar keeps developing as a passer, the loss of Hurst won’t hurt, as he’ll be looking to the outside more, especially now that we have WRs that can get separation. G. Ro would have to make some tweaks here and there, but let’s not forget we have Ricard and Boyle.

a 1st, hurst and a 3 is way too much to even be reasonable for a player with only 2 years left on his contract
also we clearly value hurst on our offence - not as much as we value ramsey but enough that we wouldnt trade him away for that little value after only 1 year

Yeah that’s my only problem here. I like Ramsey but I still feel conflicted on that price of a 1st round pick then adding in Hayden and a 3rd in one draft. That’s a bit rich then you talk about throwing in another pick? That’s way too much. We still have to sign the dude too. That said, Ramsey would mask our problems and we could use him because he would do big things here. Then again, it’s also a question of paying that much money into the secondary. That’s a lot of dough. While Hayden hasn’t lit up the world yet, I think he could. He’s an older second year player so I would be okay losing him for Ramsey in the right deal

it would also mean that unless we dont pay marlon (which would be ridiculous)
likely by the end of next offseason we'd have 2 of the highest paid outside corners in the league, 1 of the highest paid slot corners in the league, 1 of the highest paid safeties in the league and also another highly paid safety - that's an outrageous amount of money in the secondary all at once

...then half of them get injured, as per normal Ravens schedule

The only way it makes sense is if we plan on not doing much at outside edge pass rusher. If we primarily invest in DL & lock up a secondary of Ramsey & Humphrey with Thomas back there we can get out from Jefferson’s deal and we could even get out of Young’s deal if needed but I doubt it. We also don’t know the extent of that [Young] injury, so maybe this is a big deal. That said, I’m good with whatever the team does and I love Ramsey the player I just don’t like his attitude and I feel like those 1st round picks are a bit much for a guy who is already on his way out

Per Tony Lombardi

This would be a shocker! In conversations I've had with Eric DeCosta his goal is to build a sustained winner, not loading up for a season or two. Giving up 3 high-end draft picks and last year's No. 1 flies in the face of that goal.

Hayden Hurst, a 1st and a 3rd this year plus a 2nd or 3rd for Jalen is what I've heard. Id rather they not trade him at all...

I dont get this, he wants to create a "sustained winner" and not load up for a season or two?

Jalen and Marlon are 24 and 23yo, they would shut down the leagues best recievers for the better part of the next decade.

I'd do Hurst + 1st and a 2021 pick; however, I feel like a 2020 1st & 3rd + Hayden + 2021 2nd or 3rd Pick is a lot. If it's 2020 1st + Hayden + 2021 2nd then that's fine by me.
Yeah I’m not giving hurst a first and early picks in 2021. This is a cb not the first overall pick or a franchise qb

i like hayden hurst and all, but a first and hurst, and MAYBE a third, would be worth it for me. if we traded hurst and he turned out to be average at best and then the picks bust, its a robbery, and the crapshoot nature of the draft suggests thats exactly what would happen.

im fine either way, just saying that many folks gave the bears hell for giving up what they did for mack, but nobody is laughing now, and bringing ramsey to this squad, with all the downsides of his price tag, probably brings a super bowl here. fact is, the entire NFL would shid their pants if ramsey joined us
That trade scenario would be nice even if the picks dont end up being a bust. I think ramsey may end up going to KC.its his best bet if really tired of losing

It’s about the right value imo. Hurst really hasn’t done anything yet. He’s going to be 30 once his contract is up anyway. Would you feel comfortable signing him at 30 lol? A proven talent like Ramsey is more valuable than drowning darts at a draft board especially since the 2020 class seems to be more top heavy than depth throughout the whole draft.

Pats had a great defense last few yrs with absolutely no pass rush. I think last year they had less than 30 sacks
Not true Trey Flowers was borderline elite last season. They always have guys that rotate in and apply pressure. It’s not just one guy doing all the heavy lifting.

You don’t really know how valuable a CB really is then. Jimmy is probably gone after this season. Carr isn’t getting any younger. Tavon out for the season for the second time in 3 years. We have a hole at CB

You must not have seen my last like ten posts on this subject showing how highly I think of a quality secondary.
