The Random Thought Thread

We haven't used the franchise tag since Justin Tucker and outside of him the last guy we used the tag on was Ray Rice. We legit might have to use it soon because we got some seriously important guy in Stanley, Marlon, Andrews, Brown Jr., amongst them that we have to keep and you know the team would love to retain Peters as well.

As of today, we are the SB favourite on all sports books, including Caesars.

I think that’s fair. We are now the #1 seed, We’ve won 8 in a row, and we’ve beaten the best teams in the league during that stretch. The question is can we keep that #1 seed? NE’s toughest opponent remaining is KC, but they also have the Bills left on their schedule. We have the Bills, Jets, Browns, and Steelers. Gonna be an interesting and fun (I hope) 4 weeks.

Little random but, Devante Parker has had a breakout year ( 53rec 854yds 6tds). Was always on board for trading a 4th or 5th for him when he was on the block last year.
they have no one else and are basically force feeding the ball to him. Kind of like a couple years ago when we had Kamar Aiken he came very close to getting 1000 yards. Not saying he couldn't be decent but he probably wouldn't have done much here.

I doubt we will have to use it as we have 5th year options on Stanley and Humphrey and they will most likely be extended before they reach that point. Andrews and Brown will be extended the same year, that could be difficult, but I don't see us using the franchise tag, especially since it will end up being in the new CBA and it's possible the way the franchise tag works then, even if it is still an option, is more expensive than it is now.

With the way our offense is we dont need consistent production from the outside, they just need to theaten speed over the top and be somewhat reliabile. I think if we had brought it a veteran like we have in the past they might be pouting about the lack of targets.

Off topic I was a big fan of Kamar Aiken, he was better than he was given credit for.

he may have been a bit better than he was given credit for, but he was still force fed the ball due to SSS going down with an injury. He wasn't a receiver that should have been the number 1 option.

he was an acceptable wr 4 who also could contribute on special teams

Jacoby was a 4, Kamar was a 2 and a better version of Jacoby

what value did kamar aiken add to our team that would justify defences treating him like a number 2 receiver... he wasnt a player who could consistently win in man - his best trait was probably having secure hands but his ability to separate was inconsistent at best

He had 9 consecutive 5 catch games and was literally our 2 opposite Steve Smith

that is because we force fed him the ball and had no one better and that is the only reason. and if he really was a number 2 receiver in this league, he wouldn't have fizzled out once he left the Ravens.

Just pointing out what happened, that wasnt an opinion. If any team could forcefeed any WR and get 1000 yards they would.
