I agree with this, but who are we going to replace him with that would cost less and be as good a fit. Even if we get a chance to draft one, there is very little chance he is really good from the get go. That doesn't happen that often.

That's very true, but it might be a chance that we have to take if we don't want to start handicapping ourselves with contracts again. I'm all for making Judon a fair offer to try and keep him, but if he's looking for the payday then I'd rather look to the draft or trying to land someone in FA (Clowney, Barrett, etc.).

Judon really just feels like the next "bad" Ravens contract if we end up paying him too much. He's a good player and locker room guy, but his production is just too inconsistent to feel comfortable giving him a huge contract. I could definitely see him going elsewhere to get paid like Zadarius.

he just disappears too often to be relied upon with top dollar money which is what he will get
and he's doing that thing he does which is start compiling sacks later in the year after starting slow and teasing you about how good he could be - his strength lies in how versatile he is as a SAM in our defence but ultimately I dont think that versatility is enough to justify paying him high end money - but we'll see - maybe he'll go on a tear down the stretch and be dominant and earn that contract

+ there's the opportunity cost of getting a 3rd round comp for him if he leaves

i think we'll have a price at which we bring him back but we cant afford to overpay him just because we have a weakness at the position even with the increasing level of cap space - that's how bad contracts happen and that's how you get into cap hell

i kind of hope we try what we've tried a couple of times in the last 5 years which is doubling up on potential pass rushers in day 2 - we tried it with kaufusi and correa and neither worked out (albeit we got judon in that same draft), we tried it with timmy and tyus (and so far nothing has really panned out there either), jaylon looks promising but still raw, i could see us double-dipping at the position in the draft again

depending on who we retain this offseason i think going into the draft the only real need we'll have is an edge rusher - i think we'll be very interested in going after an interior OL, interior DL and another wr also but edge is going to be the only real dire position of need i think and i think we'll be aggressive about addressing it in the same way we went after TEs in 2018 and Wrs in 2019

Clowney wanted to go to Seattle or Philadelphia, so I believe he will end up staying in Seattle. Barrett is someone I wanted the entire offseason and he was right to bet on himself with a one year deal. He would be a great signing.

Guess who we get again this week to call the game.

TV Broadcast: TV: CBS: Ian Eagle, Dan Fouts, Evan Washburn (field reporter)

Weather: 42 degrees and cloudy with 15 mph winds

Referee: Shawn Smith

third time this year we get that piece of shit - youd think they'd want to put good announcers on these games given that lamar at any moment is potentially gonna pull off a miraculous or stunning play that will be immortalised with the call that went with it

the spin move will go into the annals of history with an awesome call from kevin harlan with it

ian eagle's equivalent was to say the word lamar-kable... a bit of a let down - and to have dan fouts voice also is so pointless

at least have a play-by-play guy who's voice even remotely changes based on what they see - someone who gets audibly excited

i will remember "he is houdini" for a long time

Goodness that Fouts dude is miserable and hates the world. Put him out of misery please and let him stay home. Give him a damn pacifier.

I can't help but smile every time I hear that Kevin Harlan call. Fouts, on the other hand, sounds like he's gritting his teeth whenever he has to give us praise.

We need Gus Johnson man, he would need to see a throat doctor after commentating one of our games. That crazy sob

I definitely hope we do something because I hate to telegraph moves. We need an edge rusher bad and I’d say it’s easily our top need even now. With that said, I do think we need an ILB, WR, IOL & IDL. That said, those are all even needs from face value perspectives. I’d just like to be able to take BPA or move up to take falling BPA at position of those needs. Not sure Judon would be a guy we should break the bank to keep but I wouldn’t let him go without at least an offer either. He’s kinda like how I saw Mosley in that we could do better but losing him would hurt.
