Dang Steve...

Does lamar hold the ball the longest because he always looking for the deep shot? I notice he really never throws to rb on check downs.

Baker hasn't lived up to the hype but Odell, I have mixed feelings on if hes really washed or not. He's played through a shoulder and ACL injury this year too and still gets wide open, but Baker either ignores him or can't see whos open.

this is the thing - Odell is a weirdo and a diva but he’s still a great wide receiver but for whatever reason baker can’t get him the ball

people think he’s washed because of the injuries but he was unstoppable with the giants for a reason

It’s a couple of things:

1) yes he’s looking to push down the field - especially on 3rd down he hates taking the check down - he and the receivers like to be aggressive and work beyond the sticks on 3rd down
2) he’s got extreme mobility which means that he’ll frequently have scramble plays where he evades for ages before throwing that pull the average up
3) because of the way teams rush us on 1st and 2nd down we can usually create a strong pocket especially off play-action

but yeah a lot of it you can point out as being related to his aggressiveness and I especially get why he’d be reluctant to take the check down in 2021 because we don’t have a RB who can break a tackle and get more than what’s there

Unlikely its as simple as I'm suggesting, but half the time, I think Lamar is like "yeah, I could check down to the RB for a 5-7 yard gain", or I could just run it myself and get equal or more of that.
And probably half the time he's right, though the other half, he gets tripped up at the LOS or something and ends up only getting a yard or two.

This. Sometimes he hesitates between throwing the ball and just taking off with it, and those split seconds can be costly at the LOS. In my mind if he has a ton of field to work with he should just take off with it

in previous years id agree but he's been turning down the scramble option a ton when it's clearly been available to try and find a bigger play with his arm

and also those types of plays then wouldnt contribute to his average time to throw as those plays wouldnt be included

i think it's more just an extension of the general 3rd down issue which is that he doesnt want to put it short of the sticks at all

and i get that for sure - until this year tbf he's not really had the kinds of receivers who could get YAC in those situations - with bateman, watkins and duvernay he has more of those types of guys (and hollywood has looked better in YAC terms this year too) and not the willie snead types

So.... does this mean we just need to replace Wink with someone who dials up more pressure? I just don't understand how Judon, and ZDS have left and become better players. Usually for us, it's the opposite and they show they are a product of our scheme.

DTs muddle rushing Lamar and holding their gaps while pushing the pocket is part of that, it seems like when Lamar is able to squeeze through those gaps he breaks big ones, he’s just had some bad luck getting OL pushed into his feet and DTs clipping him as he tries to break the pocket.

Anyone else still watch this from time to time? Craziest two minutes ever.

seen it about 17 billion times the last couple of weeks lol

have a feeling the last 17-18 minutes of the colts game are gonna be hard to beat in terms of adrenaline and euphoria
