The Random Thought Thread

i mean im absolutely fine lol - it's not like musk magically just started existing as an entity today... im not upset lol - just find it odd that people go to bat for musk when he's such an average guy

but i will never fanboy for a billionaire... their literal existence is evidence of exploitation and wilful evil
And he most likely isn't 100% guy.
There seems to be a bit of a robot in it.

i mean i have literally no doubt that musk actually doesnt want a better world

dude's wealth comes from benefitting off apartheid, he and his libertarian tech bros constantly going around coming up with dumb solutions to problems without researching shit lol - his vanity gets in the way of him actually improving the world around him

during a global pandemic he leveraged his wealth to make himself 10 times richer and taking advantage of global crisis

he's an asshole and he's really not that clever

he's famous for 3 things really... paypal, cars that explode and space tourism
i guess now 4 things now that he's decided he's going to fix traffic by building a tunnel
I really don’t care what he is . I want to see free thought from both sides of the aisle and I listen to both.
When I went to college back in the late 70’s , people listened to all opinions and reasoned arguments without criticism. This doesn’t happen anymore . Now if someone doesn’t like your opinion you get banned or cancel cultured.
We need to get back to listening to all sides in order to properly solve the multitude of societal problems we have today.

totally agree and certainly happy I've had a good amount of TSLA shares for more than 2 years. That being said, I was not a fan of him purchasing Twitter, but I'll give it a chance since I have no say in the matter. lol

Hell my new puppy's name is Tessie. She is 5 weeks and will have a pic when we bring her home in a few weeks.
Cute!!!

A tolerant society is intolerant of intolerance

There lies the problem.
Now swastika wearing folk have a freedom of speech, too.

Anyway, Musk is a swindler, as are most other billionaires.

He pledged $6B to help fight the hunger in the poorest parts of the world, if someone can show him a plan. The plan was shown, so he decided to buy twitter for $45B.

Typical sociopath.

A picture of Dan Snyder is right next to this sentence in a dictionary lol.

It happens alot still actually….. on this board lol

If Elon was any good he'd have made hoverboards available. No one needs to be that rich, but that's more about the game to me. A more effective tax system could probably fund health care for the poor without them even noticing. But yeah ultimately I just want a hoverboard.

i mean there's a legitimate reason to censor abuse on a platform...

and you can actually say whatever you want on twitter - it already is a free speech platform... but if you say something awful or abusive it might get deleted afterwards but there's no one stopping you from saying it in the first place

freedom of speech is not freedom from consequence
Two different things here:
1. Every platform largely censors abuse. Even twitter has policies against certain types of things, and it will even when Musk operates it. It's not like he's going to allow unlimited access for users to troll people by calling them cunts all day long. They'll get banned for violations of terms all day long. Because end of day, Twitter's useless if it's not a money making business, and a platform overrun by trolls with no rules will be a platform people flock away from.
2. Twitter's own leadership has admitted to using algorithm's to direct traffic away from posts/users who they arbitrarily believe are spreading "misinformation" or lies. They've acknowledged this several times. Eventually, they've banned similar people (like Trump).

The problem with curtailing "misinformation" is that the people that are doing it aren't qualified to understand what's factual and what's not. They're just broadly isolating two things as either "fact or opinion" and if the opinion is something they disagree with, and they realize a lot of people are buying into it, they'll actively seek ways to limit that opinion.

What liberals have been doing for awhile now is, from a closet, acknowledging that they don't trust people. They don't trust anybody. They can't trust that somebody can have an opinion and that millions of people won't believe it, so rather than allowing for smart people to act smart and dumb people to act dumb, they censor those they don't believe think like they do.

If you're out there on social media reading posts from people, and you can't differentiate between what's fact and opinion, what's right and wrong, and can't formulate your own judgments and opinions about topics, no censorship is going to help that. You're a sheep. You need to be told what to think and how to think. You need directive and guidance through many levels of your life.

A more effective tax system would require the government to figure out a way to tax intangible value, like net worth, which is asinine to begin with. Much of the wealth nationwide isn't in tangible assets.

Universal health care won't solve the problem people think it will. It'll make healthcare more affordable, but its nowhere close to guaranteeing to make people healthier. There's no point in making it cheaper to be unhealthy. Solving healthcare problems in pretty much any nation is a product of cultural shifts and education to consumers about how to actually live healthy lifestyles.

And no, eating and living healthy isn't expensive.

1. The plan sucked and wasn't intelligent at all. Said plan also admitted that it was purely a temporary measure to solve world hunger, not a sustainable or long term measure. Like putting a band aid on a broken bone.
2. I don't know when people decided it was a single person's responsibility to end world hunger. He has no more liability on the issue than you or I do.
He's certainly under no moral obligation to do so. It would be pure generosity.

I just need Elon to push DOGE to the moon
DOGE will probably have an ETF at some point. If it doesn't happen this year it will probably happen by the end of 2023. If you own it, just continue holding it and adding to it. I have some in DOGE but I mainly am accumulating btc and eth.
