The Random Thought Thread

I actually don't see how we can even win the division. The only way is so convoluted. We need to win games we can't. We need to beat Cincy in the final week. AND they need to drop at least one game they shouldn't. What a sad collapse ending this season will have
My worry hasn't been for the division for a couple of weeks now. Before the season began, I had the Bengals winning the division with us getting a Wild Card. While we need to handle our business because "we control our destiny," we also need insurance.

We are only up one win. So 3 wins probably makes us safe, no guarantee we do that at this point.

Not actually correct. If the Ravens win out and the Bengals drop even the game to the Bills then the Ravens win the division before the final week. The Bengals already have 3 division losses and the Ravens have 2 wins (and 0 losses) so the Ravens have the inside straight to the tiebreaker.

Lol sure you gave the mathematically correct answer that is obvious. But you ignored my statement saying we need to win games we can't. We will not win out that's crazy talk. We also won't even beat the Bengals most likely.

I see the Steelers and Browns games away as particularly difficult.

My prediction is that Lamar will be out a min of 3 games and a max of the rest of the regular season. Let's put it at 4 games.

In my opinion, Tyler Huntley and this offense cannot beat Steelers probably either time. I think there's a chance we could beat the Browns because Deshaun Watson is really rusty and there's a chance our defense makes them pay. But there's no reason to guarantee a win there. The Falcons have been competitive in basically every game. No guarantee there. And we should could smacked by Cincy.

I unfortunately feel the best possible record we can get is 10-7

That could be enough to get a wild card.

this is true, but the injury to Lamar this week certainly didn't help.

Pittsburgh would maybe be the least of my concerns actually. Not sure if he can beat them on the road, but the Steelers are absolutely nothing special on offense or on defense. Denver has an elite defense. Probably best in the league.

Whether or not we win the division will likely come down to how long Lamar is out, and I have no vague clue at this point how long that will be. We should be able to get two wins regardless from somewhere.

Also would point out that its far too early to speculate about whether we can beat the Bengals, because if we start losing a bunch of games, that game may become a lot less meaningful for the Bengals actually. They get to week 18 and have the division locked up and can't advance their seeding, which is entirely possible, they'll be resting players.

Theoretically, that's a two way street also. Not like super difficult, but they still play road games in Tampa and NE, and have to host Buffalo, before they play us. They lose 2 of those games, which is easy to see happening, and they're a 10-6 team heading into the final week.

Certainly possible
That could be enough to get a wild card.
10-7 is getting in the playoffs in the AFC. Jets will be supremely lucky to finish 10-7, and they're the 7 seed right now. Patriots aren't anywhere close to good enough to win 4/5, unless they get like a magical string of injury luck from their opponents. Patriots still play Cincy, Miami and Buffalo to finish the year.

Chargers are "mildly" concerning for me, but I don't think they can win 4/5 either. Their last three are pretty soft, but they play Miami and Tennessee next two weeks. I think they lose both.

Good enough for me. This team hasn't been good enough to win the division.

I think it's imperative that we beat the Steelers. Should we pull a 2021 season and lose back-to-back division games, they (Steelers) could fuck around and win 9 games. Us twice, Panthers, Browns at home, and Raiders at home.

You guys still want to make the playoffs? I’m already looking forward 2023 lol

Already won too many games to get a high draft pick, so there's really no difference between missing the playoffs and like a first round exit from the playoffs. Talking like 2-3 spots in the draft.

True. I’m just not looking forward to being embarrassed in primetime. I’d bet a lot of money we’ll be one and done

Yea I feel ya. Everyone talking about Lamar coming back is the key to season etc etc, offense has been in a rut for the past few weeks and that rut continued against Denver. Even with Lamar in we had three drives to no where and three punts. I heard we haven't scored a TD in the 1st,2nd, or 3rd qtr for three straight weeks.....I'm thinking Lamar is definitely not the magic elixir and its hockey season officially.

Crazy how well Jalen Hurts has played. Never thought he would develop into this impactful of a player. Would be happy to see him get the MVP over Mahomes.
