The Random Thought Thread

And that's where we disagree. Throwing the ball against Denver didn't give us a fighting chance either. Then, it did.

I think giving ourselves a fighting chance should probably involve not putting yourself in that position to begin with. Honestly you can just re-watch the first three quarters of that game and easily predict what's going to happen in the fourth, regardless of play calling.
Difference being that the running game was also pure shit against Denver because well, they actually have a good run D. Cleveland does not.

Also the difference being that, despite all of that, we put up more points against Denver than we did against Cleveland. So it didn't really matter how good or bad their run D was.

In my world, a good rushing offense looks a lot more like what we did against New Orleans and Tampa than it does against Cleveland.

And don't worry, we'll have another great rushing display on Saturday too, because Atlanta's rush defense is bad. And at the end of the game, people will realize that said rushing attack will matter a hell of a lot less than other more important things, like how well your QB played, turnover differential, red zone and third down efficiency, etc.

You can pretty much write an entire book on this season and just look at those things alone and figure out quickly whether we won or lost the game.

It did matter though because running the ball made no sense against Denver because it wasn't working.

Guess what was working against Cleveland...

And don't give me the red zone shit again. We're talking about moving the ball downfield.

as others have pointed out...
you don't have to read it if you don't want to...

also there's an ignore button if it bothers you
Aww damn! Where the hell is that button?

Actually you're talking about moving the ball downfield. I don't really care if we move the ball down field. I care about scoring points.

And no, I don't think running the ball a lot with 11 minutes left is going to result in the number of points you need to win.

.........

how are you going to score points if you don't move the ball down the field?

Here’s a random thought,

Hockey is mid tier sport. I’m watching the devils vs panthers live and let me tell you.

Going for the devils, I’m from Jersey

I really only get into it during the playoffs. Go Lightning I guess lol

Actually the first thing I wrote down after the game was "I can't wait til these idiots treat this like the Tennessee playoff game, where morons will actually think we lost because we didn't do more Cowbell".

And I wasn't sure if it was going to happen. But not only did it happen, it was the first time I could recall universally where people decided yards per carry were more important than point per game. It's truly a defining moment for the boards.

Then I went back to writing down useful parts of the game, like critical turnovers in terrible spots, bad play calling and execution on 3rd and 4th downs, poor QB play, etc. You know... the things that get you in the spot you're in.
how did those turnovers happen. On a passing play.
