The Random Thought Thread

Nah that presser is usually a big nothing burger. Talk mostly about what went well, avoid the bad and the ugly at all cost. They will assure us that all things will be fine.

I think they usually retreat to buscuits place in Florida, spend a few days on his boat, enjoy a few cocktails, and then decide who stays and goes. But maybe not.

that's normally about players not about coaches
if they're getting rid of a coach it's going to happen fairly close to the end of the season

The Bengals defense is very well coached. They are normally good at defending against the run. I just think Roman probably was over thinking somethings but in regards to Huntley QB sneak that's just a players messing up a play,

It wasn’t just that game. It was literally every game where we struggled with converting in the red zone

That doesn't mean we should give up hope. You should know we all want him gone, and so should DeCosta, he wants to make fans happy. Roman needs to be gone, and if he isn't gone after this season, I am hopping on the Lions bandwagon

Should DeCosta be on the hot seat for failing to get Lamar signed early, in line with every other top QB? The Ravens are either going to have to pay a hell of a lot more than in Year 3 or 4 or, even worse, they're lose a franchise QB over money, something that hasn't happened in decades.

Either way you look at it, it's a pretty monumental fuck up at the most important position, yet EDC seems very complacent and secure in his job.
EDC literally built a team that should have beat the Bengals with its franchise QB injured. The knee jerk reactions are getting out of hand

im not saying give up hope
im saying that it will likely happen soon even if it's not announced tomorrow

my original guess was some time between friday and next friday

That's something I have no explanation for. Typically The Ravens have been good in the redzone under Roman up until last year. Just seem like to me Roman over though things alot last year. Not sure if that was due to pressure cause maybe his job security was under question or lack of talent down the stretch at the wide receiver position.

No knee jerk here. I never expected us to win and I'm not upset that we didn't. All I wanted from this season was for coaching changes to be made, to enable us to genuinely compete next season.

GMs usually live or die by their QB decisions and, whatever happens, EDC has badly messed things up with the star QB he inherited.

"Should have beat" does not equal "beat". The last 10 years of Ravens football have been all about being just good enough to have a plausible excuse why we didn't succeed, but never good enough to actually succeed. The organization is stale and complacent across the board.

I'm not denying that DeCosta has built a competitive roster, aided by a great final draft class from Ozzie. I think DeCosta has done well enough to keep his job but he hasn't done enough to be as completely comfortable as he seems. He should be entering the off season aware that he needs to make changes to the way he builds the offense roster and he should be given a chance to show he can do it differently, for a new OC.

If he rehires Roman he should be fired. That's it.

Ravens let Wink Martindale go before the super bowl
Actually I think it was during the “team summit” in Florida, which usually happens before the SB, if I’m not mistaken. Also I think they couldn’t agree on terms of a one year extension, so I’m thinking that was more of a mutual firing, if you will. Or at least that is what Shefter had reported.

I'd be shocked if Roman was dismissed before the Super Bowl.

ravens announced Wink leaving on the 2nd Friday after their regular season finale (21st January) - which is coincidentally the same time as this upcoming week

either way if it follows that trajectory (which it should), it'll be announced this Friday (2 days before the divisional round) or it'll be announced next Friday (2nd Friday after our last game of the season)

well the Ravens like Roman more for whatever reason

I think this usually said because we talking about offense. Offense is such a big topic lately it's even to the point Ravens fans have suggest that Roman and Harbaugh are like best buddies or something. Even more than Wink for some reason but it is what it is.

Let’s just hope it happens.

EDIT: I would add that the sooner the better. It could have an impact on LJ negotions.
