I agree! They shouldve left this alone. They better off doing a prequel that would get the young kids attention. The time period where those movies gave you that all time great feeling are long gone. Although, it would be nice for them to finally make a movie where we watch because of the actors and directors. Love avengers type movies but i dnt watch cause the roles, always the actually movie it self

There are still some movies that come out which give me that feeling, but definitely agree that we're no longer in great time period for movies. Everything is a reboot or a superhero movie nowadays and there's not a ton of original ideas

You sure its an actual sequel or just something that can stand alone and is a sequel in name?

This is probably a dumb question considering they're making another Beverly Hills Cop. Vultures

I haven't been following the production of this movie at all so I have no idea. I'm hoping it's just a sequel in name and it's following a different "gladiator" with a whole new cast of characters and set in a different location, but who knows. Ridley Scott is one of the greatest directors in cinema history, but, at the same time, a lot of his recent ideas and movies have been fucking terrible (I heard Napoleon might be good, but I haven't seen it). I wouldn't put it past Scott to release a direct sequel to Gladiator with some dumb, bullshit story and then he acts like it's some new work of art. He should just retire at this point TBH

The biggest reason I find, and this is often true of video games as well, is that the writers are often too afraid to tell an actual story and instead want to pay “respect” to the original.

Yeah, basically they just want to rehash the same stories over and over again. Video games have an inherent advantage in this regard due to gameplay enhancements that make the sequel better gameplay-wise, even if the sequel copies the same story formula as the previous game

lots of original ideas around
not many studios interested in finding or listening to them

Outright stopped, no. But no form of tackle truly is. That said, it can absolutely be discouraged for the blatant and obvious ones with penalties, i.e. facemasks and horse collars. In fact, it should be easier than both examples because those two are generally an initiation of contact, which can comes down to inadvertent split-second judgement calls. The entire basis of the hip drop is that the defender first needs to wrap around the ball-carrier, then drop their lower half onto the legs. It's a measured response with a step one and a step two. Otherwise, they'd be cannonballing without a target if they weren't already in contact, and at that point, they can just drag down the carrier naturally. I personally think it needs to be outlawed as soon as this offseason.
Not all hip drop tackles are cannonballs into the players heels though, I think you can make a very clear distinction between malicious and non malicious hip drop tackles in a way players will respond to and adjust their tackling accordingly, same way they did with horsecollars

problem in 2019 was more likely a combination of the 1 seed bye as well as basically an extra bye week against the steelers where we rested everyone the week before too...

add to the fact that for some reason a couple of guys also had a few knocks (who'd been healthy all year) and it makes sense why they came in so cold to that game

this team has handled a ton of adversity since and has got used to playing without the full complement, it's also a better team
it's also probable that this team gets to week 18 and still has to play to win to get the 1 seed which means they only get 1 week off and not 2
This team hasn’t casually cruised to this point, they’ve faced tons of adversity and are still the 1 seed and clearly a top 3 contender in the conference roster, qb, and coaching wise.

Marlon is a bitch for getting cooked and doing his absolute best to lose us the game and then hiding by not putting out his podcast

Honestly, I'm glad he didn't do his podcast BECAUSE he was getting cooked. I'd be pretty pissed if he did the podcast and talk about ANY upcoming game when he needs to redeem himself from that performance.

most famous hip drop tackle was Joe Theismann and it wasn't malicious.

Anyone else notice how dejected Oweh looks on the bench in these wired videos lol
