The Random Thought Thread

not sure how only 3 guards make the pro bowl per conference.

So basically Gordon and Cook are going to be taking the bulk of the carries on Sunday with no fear of running out of elevations?
I mean Gordon is already on the 53 so no issues there.

Doubting Cook is up considering he hasn’t even officially signed yet but I guess crazier things have happened.

Divisional Round tickets sold out quick. I looked and the ticket prices weren't too bad. Hopefully the AFC Championship game won't be super expensive.

I'm generally a player over coaches mindset type of guy, but I do think this year's staff additions have paid heavy dividends. Even beyond Monken, there seemed to be a focus on bringing in coaches that can teach and relate. Some of what look like our best coaches are ones that played at the highest level and know what it takes. Gone are a lot of the old heads.

Yep.

Ravens season in a nutshell: team selection clinic supported by an absolute coaching clinic.

for the last 3 or 4 years Harbs has gone a lot wider with his coaching searches to find positional guys and other guys to come in and add value to the coaching staff

especially when it comes to the defensive side of the ball... there's a number of guys on this staff who are probably future DCs and/or HCs - could make a real effective argument that the guy the eagles should have hired as their DC instead of Sean Desai is on our staff

but on top of that we've got position specialist guys who are highly regarded as savants at developing traits for the guys in their room... Dubb and Chuck Smith are literally regarded by the best at their position as being great

Went outside the box in recent years with guys like Chuck Smith and Keith Williams who were private coaches. Trusted that Tee Martin's experience playing the position was more valuable than his lack of resume-level experience in coaching QBs. Jumped on talent like Anthony Weaver and Dennard Wilson when they were inexplicably available. Unafraid to go to the college ranks with our key guys - Macdonald and Monken. Although you still have some friendly hires (e.g. Willie Taggart), Harbaugh has bucked the trend of hiring guys he's familiar with and has cast a wide net to try to find the right guy, not necessarily the known guy.
