The Random Thought Thread

Also depends. Historically, part of the "struggle" for SB coordinators is that teams don't want to wait a month to hire somebody. Ideally, MM and Monken are banging out all of their interviews this week, basically I'm not sure they'll interview much, if at all, after, until we lose.

I think the longer we stay in the playoffs, the better chance it is those guys stay, because other teams will have moved on to other candidates.

You think this process will ever change? Interviewing during a playoff run seems like a distraction for the teams still competing.

So there's another more at stake winning the Bowl. Nice

Wonder where Jesse Minter (DC of Michigan) ends up. He spent time with the Ravens as a defensive assistant from 2017-2020. I'm wondering if he follows Jim Harbaugh if he does in fact go to the NFL or if he is given an opportunity in Michigan. If not, it's possible he could be interviewed in Baltimore. Still feel that job is Anthony Weavers to lose, if Macdonald leaves.
Think the former is likely. If Jim takes a HC gig in the NFL, I imagine Minter 100% goes with him.
He would be my first choice to replace MM if he leaves. Mostly because I think he and MM run extremely similar schemes and view modern defense through the same lens. Makes the transition easier.

I like Jesse Minter as well, but I think I'd prefer Anthony Weaver for the continuity. What is your reason for wanting Minter?

I think there's been discussions in the past about it, but ultimately, I think they just leave it up to the coaches/teams.
Theoretically they could just put a hiring freeze on for January basically, but that puts the teams that fired their HCs at an extreme disadvantage, so I don't know that they'll go that route.

I'd like to see them do something about interviewing in weeks where you have games, but I don't really see an issue with interviewing coaches from Ravens/49ers this week, since it's not a normal practice week.

I think he and MM basically run the same scheme. I don't have anything against Weaver, and I'm fine if he gets the job. I just don't know if he would want to run the same scheme as MM. Maybe it's a better one, but maybe he's more Wink than MM. Hard to say.

I think the personnel we have fits tremendously with the scheme we currently run. If you change the scheme, may need to dramatically change the players. And maybe that's inevitable anyway, considering how many defenders we potentially lose this offseason.

do you know that weaver will run the defence the same way?
he's got a different background and likely has different play-call preferences

ravens will likely go in-house with any macdonald replacement but it's not open-and-shut that it's definitely weaver as the next guy...

dennard wilson probably should have been the guy the eagles replaced gannon with
chris hewitt was also in the conversation for DC 2 years ago
Jesse minter was the heir apparent to the heir apparent

so while weaver is the favourite i wouldnt assume it's his gig

while Minter wouldn't be in house, he's been a Raven coach before and of course Macdonald coached at Michigan for a season before becoming DC here. Should be interesting to follow.

I'd assume it's because Deebo and McCaffrey are eating into Purdy's chances of winning it, that is the only logical way that makes sense. But I love how people CONTINUE to disrespect us despite what we have done over the last month
