The Random Thought Thread

So if you are a financial advisor, then you can answer this question for me. How likely is it that the Monday after we win the AFC Championship that I can go to the bank and get a loan for Super Bowl tickets lol. I know credit score, debt to income ratio, etc and all that stuff. I'm just curious if that is even possible and if a bank or anyone would approve someone for what likely would be a big amount to cover the cost of tickets, likely hotel in New Orleans, etc. I wasn't joking when I said I would have tried to get a loan if we made the Super Bowl last season, it's a once in a lifetime thing to go to the Super Bowl and I'd like to know my chances of this being a reality.
Probably would have to get a personal loan for that im assuming.

I dnt think kc has a shot now that all their wrs are hurt.. wouldnt be surprised if jets and hawks start making some noise.. also cant count niners out once they get healthy
If the chiefs have mahomes, a good OL, Reid, and spagnuolo, they’re the top Super Bowl contender.

Theyre a defensive team now, but they haven’t been removed from the top spot.

now this would be a first. If you need to take a loan out to go to the super bowl, then maybe don't go to the super bowl.

I don't know lol.... I figure tickets would be thousands of dollars per ticket so yeah it's going to take a loan unless I won the lottery lol.

then win the lottery

Do you have money in a 401ki? You can take a 401k loan if you absolutely have to.

If you have cash value life insurance, then you can take a loan out of the policy without having to pay it back in any set time frame.j

Do you have a home equity line of credit?

If you own a home you can use your equity.

Yeah this seems impossible lol. I was curious to see if this was actually possible but guess not.

I would just say that if you can't afford to go the SB straight up, you probably shouldn't be going to a SB.

The Chiefs have to be the worst undefeated team I think I've seen in a long time, but you just know they're going to figure their shit out right when it matters most.

They are both just glorified running backs

Yeah I know but I was actually curious if this was actually possible. Sure I'd be in debt for years but it would be worth it to see the Ravens win a Super Bowl in person.
(no bad juju, no bad juju) But what if they lose?

Sounds terrible, but the SB is no longer built for the average fan.

Oh yea i agree for sure but i just dnt see them winning SB this year with that current team.

Yea I gotta drive to VA, haven’t been successful in MD yet. I’ve seen some silly prices on Blantons, which is good stuff, but 100+ is pushing it IMO. I ended up getting 6 bottles at $70 each at the distillery.
Beltway - otherwise known as Total Wine in Towson - more Loch Raven, actually - has Eagle Rare pretty regularly. Haven't looked for it in a while. Midway Liquors on Rt 40 has a ton and the owner is sensational at getting just about anything. He's either walking around the store or he's up in the raised corner manager's area overlooking his domain. You can check their websites.

Regarding 100 proof +, I always thought 90 proof was the sweet spot. Sometimes 100+ can be a little too "hot" and needs a rock or two. Overall, tho, I prefer neat despite that. But 90 is almost always perfect right out of the bottle. I went thru all kinds of bourbons over the years. Blanton's is excellent, but expensive. Four Roses Small Batch, in the heart-shaped bottle has become my regular for the past few years. I do like both Buffalo Trace and Makers Mark tho for a change. I gave up on trying boutique spirits. There are too many distilleries that cut corners and try to rush the aging process. I get why they do it, but most of them just aren't as refined as the old tried and true ones.

There used to be a lower end Van Winkle that was fabulous. I haven't seen it in years. Old Rip Van Winkle it was called. I also really like Weller. A buddy gave me a bottle a couple years ago that I tried to nurse, but it was too good and got killed after a rough week of teaching Middle School. It's been known to happen... ;)

It wouldn’t be worth it. It’ll be over in a night and not nearly as awesome as you’d hoped it would be.

Take half that cost and go on a bomb ass vacation for a week at a world class destination and watch the SB in a bar one of your several nights there. Guarantee you’d be more satisfied and less buyers remorse with your purchase.

I will maintain that Four Roses is the best bourbon for its buck. Their limited releases stand up well too.
