The Random Thought Thread

Anyone watching the game Sunday or nah? Obviously last year I didn't watch since the Chiefs beat us to get to the Super Bowl. I might go to the movies again and skip out since I have no interest in watching a Chiefs three peat. Haven't decided yet.... just ready for free agency to begin so we can get to the Draft.

I've been skipping out on the SB recently, but I'll at least watch Kendrick's halftime show this year. As for the actual game, maybe I'll throw it on in the background while I'm gaming, but fuck both teams. Go Bane!

I saw that Sonic 3 is still playing in theaters so I might go see it again instead of watching the Super Bowl. I do feel like as long as there's no Chiefs Refs BS, the Eagles D-Line should cause issues for the Chiefs offensive line all game. Same thing happened when they played Tampa in the Super Bowl, Tampa's defense just took over the game and it became a blowout.

I don't think it will be a blowout but leaning toward the Eagles winning at the moment.

So.... if the NFL and the Refs Association are directly addressing this then something is up. First time I've seen Goodell or in this case the ref association address something like that.

The only teams that have the good draft picks/ cap space to get him are no better than where he is at. The few teams that are close to a superbowl are all drafting high. I doubt Cleveland is interested in two 30 picks for him. If he doesn’t have a no trade clause he might end up in a worse situation than he is in( if that’s possible).
He deserves it, never forget Mason Rudolph

Refs clutching their pearls. Pussies
Not surprising to most of you, but I love their response.
It basically says "hey public who thinks we cheat, we just want to make it clear that we, within the NFL, still believe that you are retarded. And that you're continued bitching will change absolutely nothing about anything, ever, because you talk the talk but you're nut sack ain't big enough to walk the walk".

And I applaud them for doing it, because they are 100% right on all accounts.

This is what I thought of when I saw that bullshit

Either admitting they're in on it or they really suck at their job. It's just funny how often they seem to suck at their job for one team...

Simpler. They suck at their jobs, and the league won't give them the technology to do better.
The shear quantity of people it would take to "rig" NFL games to make a football team from the mighty market of Kansas City win SBs consecutively would be like 100x the number of people required to cover-up the Kennedy assassination.

And the risk would exceed the reward.

What's "up" is they're trolling the public and making sure the public knows that they know that the public are morons.

of course they aren't cheating, but they are downright bad at their jobs and it gets worse and worse every year. Imo, the more judgement calls that they have to get involved in the worse they get. I also believe and it is an opinion because I don't know how many refs have retired over the last 5 years or so, but I believe they haven't replaced them well.

And I don't think the NFL views it as an actual "problem". I think the NFL will take small, staggered steps to make their jobs a little easier and bring technology in play. But it wouldn't be in bulk and immediate.

I think the NFL knows two things very, very, very well:
1. They really can't improve the ability for the officials to do better. There's no like other population of people who would do this job better, and they've already made changes in the last few years to encourage full-time officials, provide enhanced training, etc.
2. The NFL reacts to things that impact their $. There is zero evidence that officiating concerns from the public is impacting their $. The people complaining are the people watching. We know this, because you can't complain about something you haven't seen happen. So they're 100% unwilling to not make large investments in technology or streamline the officiating process, because there's no tangible gain from doing so.

I'm not even saying the league is rigged as a whole but to go under the assumption no ref has altered games to benefit their pockets would be stupid. It also would take a blind man to accept that for whatever reason crucial moments and momentum flags are usually in their favor. Can you say some of the calls are right? No doubt. My question is where are the calls against them in those same instances? Many of these flags are subjective especially in the playoffs where teams are allowed to push the limits.

Then there's the fact in the season when you could review PI they flat out acted like bitches when they were challenged.

Imagine if we gave younger Flacco Derrick Henry, Likey, Andrews , Bateman and Flowers

Was watching the games with names podcast and they were discussing the 2011 afccg. Patricia said Boldin cursed his ass out for not throwing him the ball with Edelman covering him. Let's not act like Flacco didn't have weapons. We've literally seen them play with the same pieces.

He would still be inconsistent
True. But the league was different back then and those defenses were nuts. We all remember saying for the love of God can we get Flacco some help? I bet if he also had a stacked offense in addition to those defenses he could've got 1 more SB

and that is the problem

The NFL isn't rigged but it's also true that certain players receive preferential treatment.

I also kind of identify with the challenge of being a ref nowadays. The number of rules increases year after year. They're looking out for so many things at high speeds. It's not easy. The NFL brought it on themselves.
