It's not out of the equation to win the division. at 9 - 8. May end up being a blessing that the bulk of our division games were scheduled in the second half of the season.

Fair enough, point taken, and agreed it’s a bad idea. Regardless, we need something. I’m not a hate on Faalale guy but I do think the OL needs changed. Vorhees is by far the biggest issue outside of Stanley going down now. Emeroy Jones played RT in college so if we want to play him where would he play? If you put him anywhere else on the OL you’re throwing him into a new position. Kind of puts us in a bad spot regardless of the outcome.

If it were up to me, Jones is getting G reps immediately when he’s ready to practice and we see what we have in a few weeks. He projects better inside in my opinion, but know others think differently.

So I think they do on the "mega" deals, but I don't think they'd do it for Madubuike's. I think you see it more for the like Lamar-type deals. $75M gtd really isn't that much in the grand scheme of things.

For me, the "insurance", like most insurance contracts, is a bad deal for the purchaser. That's why I think most Owners don't do it. The likelihood of career-ending injuries for star players is actually really low once you get past the guaranteed $, and most players don't get more than 2-3 years guaranteed anyway.
I think that's entirely fair, and admittedly I don't know the cost of the insurance, but for me, it's more the cap savings than the actual money being paid out.

don't forget the crucial losses of Pat Mekari, Malik Harrison, Chris Board and Brandon Stephens...

makes no sense that losing 4 starters across the 2 sides of the ball (and nominally upgrading at least 1 of them if not 2) has somehow got this team to fall apart

but the vibes are horrific and maybe michael pierce, ar'darius washington and pat ricard really are that important in terms of what they bring energy-wise
They had NFL experience and despite the feelings of depth, the depth has no NFL experience - or very limited.

There's a report that Flacco may be benched for Dillion Gabriel against the Vikings on Sunday. You think Cleveland may let Flacco go, or could trade him to us? I really have my doubts about Cooper Rush and bringing back Joe may be a option to look at if Cleveland is moving on from him.

No

I love him but he can’t move but it would be fun to see him with actual targets to throw to, that doesn’t exist on the Browns. Flacco with Henry and our TEs and WRs would be interesting, but I think his arm might be falling off a little and he can’t move at all. If we were going to lose anyway tho for the nostalgia it would be worth it

And if they brought him back in a package with Belichick, you'd probably made your entire room sticky

I really don't want Belichick, it's just more of a running gag with a guy I work with who is also a Ravens fan. Since I'm living in NC, we would joke about driving to UNC and driving him to Baltimore lol. Our team is in win now mode so we do need a coach who can help us win now opposed to waiting on a young Head Coach to develop. Belichick fits that mold, but so did Carroll & Vrabel.

As far as Flacco, I've seen enough of him in Cleveland to have more faith in him than Cooper Rush.

OK, candidly, I'm not real sure Owners care about salary cap space that much. Salary cap is fictitious accounting. They care about cash flow. The reason you would insure large contracts has less to do with the cap space created from it, and more to do with not paying out large sums of $ to players who can't produce output for you. Teams routinely cut players for marginal or little cap savings, simply because either the Owner or management doesn't want to pay out cash flow to a player they don't think will provide output. And teams have routinely traded or cut players with detrimental cap issues for the same logic.

I personally don't see much difference between Flacco and Rush at this point. They're not significantly different in terms of what they bring to the table.

It's depressing watching the Broncos pass rush knowing that's how we need to hit and we haven't been able to do so.

Bet on Bonitto's pure athleticism and get off and said the size wouldn't matter, and that became true. Cooper just straight up got better than he ever was in college. First step of both of those guys is absolutely ridiculous.

Even with Bonitto's contract, both are still extremely underappreciated.

it's the whole DL though and they didn't draft any of those 3 guys and zach allen might be the best player in their front
but all the different kinds of moves hit

the 2nd round pick that bet on traits hit
the late round pick who dropped for injury concerns hit
the guy who was a solid player not only stayed solid when they signed him in free agency but then ascended into one of the premier players at his position
they guy who was a good player stayed good and fit their scheme well
the guy they traded a late round pick for has been great

the only thing they've not done is draft a guy in the 1st round or sign a superstar
yet here they are

we're hoping that mike green's our nik bonitto
and idk who's supposed to be our jonathon cooper... unfortunately our mid-to-late round EDGE guys recently haven't been dynamic guys with real pass rush potential and our other high picks (ojabo and oweh) have not turned into good pass rushers

because, before the injuries cratered the position, our top 3 DL was pretty comparable in terms of talent with the broncos

byron young's been fantastic for the rams too

there's been a lot of non-ideal body-types who've become pass rush demons recently and the ravens have stuck to their benchmarks (or at least close to them) - hopefully mike green's the one that hits - in fact he's very similar profile-wise to bonitto tbh
