The Random Thought Thread

You know you are the Ravens when your defense carries your 31st ranked offense all season and then a key injury happens as soon as the Ravens offense begins to ignite. Now it will be up to the offense to carry the defense until they figure out the adjustments they need for life without Jimmy Smith.

Why couldn't both just align a the same time? Lol

Last time they aligned at the same time, we won the Super Bowl so as long as we can get into the playoffs then who knows...

Collins looks unstoppable right now and their defense is still solid. I think they just need to get accustomed to life without Jimmy Smith.

I definitely see Baltimore as one of the more rounded teams going into the playoffs if they do sneak in. That will be dangerous.

i agree except for the more rounded teams thing. Literally everyone in afc playoff picture is more rounded than us other than KC! .. NE, chargers, Pitt, jags

Chargers yes, Jags no, Pitt no (they're better thanks to AB, their defense is bad and their offense is below average without AB), NE yes.

Jags defense is for sure better than ours and so is their offense. Pitt O is by far better than ours and their Defense has been playing good this year. so the little edge that we do have over them on defense is over ran by trash our offense is compared to theirs

Pitt's defense without Shazier is really bad. Their run D is exposed and they have no one to cover TEs or RBs.

Truuuuu! same as ours without jimmy smith! Still mad we didnt put hump on Ab who can atleast keep up with him
That's a problem that seems to run deeper imo. I'm no expert but my guess is that it would ask too much adjustment from the rest of the defense to ask one CB to shadow. It would mean we couldn't disguise coverages, the thing we do best in our defense. (That's just me trying to read between the lines, I have no proof to back this up).

The most direct consequence would be that Carr would be asked to follow martavis Bryant and I don’t like that matchup 1 bit

Potentially but having them follow I think isn’t the way to go
I mean anything was better than what we witnessed Sunday night. Then switch off Canaday and Carr on Bryant. One thing is sure the Steelers realized after 3 or so throws to Antonio Brown and he couldn't get open on Humphrey they didn't line him up really ever again on Humphrey. They adjusted which is what our defense needed to do. I felt like nothing changed and you could tell even up by 11 with 11 minutes left with the ball that the team was going to lose.

It was late in the 3rd or early 4th can't remember when it was. Humphrey almost got pick while lined up against AB, so it did continue throughout the game.

Like I said they really didn't after that. They still did a couple times but they directly targeted him 5-6 times in a row then almost stopped the rest of the game.

Yeah I know. I was pleasantly surprised by Humph's performance last night. Outside of a sophomore slump and injuries, this dude is gonna be a stud. If Tavon can give us 80% of what he did last season....
I believe he will be a stud in this league for a long time. Regarding young, he’s already in cleats and healing ahead of pace. Typically players come back stronger after having an acl tear.

and marlon's young as well - he could be part of this team for a long time
