I just don’t want to believe that the coaches may well keep Marty and let roman go... to me that’s close to being unforgivably stupid
That’s some Browns level stupidity right thereI just don’t want to believe that the coaches may well keep Marty and let roman go... to me that’s close to being unforgivably stupid
Please don't insult the Browns. This is way 'stupider'.That’s some Browns level stupidity right there

Is there any reports of teams being interested in Roman right now? I'd hate to see him go.
Just to be a contrarian, as I often am, Pagano, Sexy Rexy, and Greg Nolan, and every other DC we've had has been an inhouse promotion, and yet, only two, Mattison and Pees, were problems. Was Pagano "more of the same" of Mattison? He was an in house promotion. As I understand it, we've had the same system forever, but with different philosophies and nuances. Maybe Wink's take is more effective than Pees's, like Pagano improving Mattison's? The assumption that an inhouse promotion means more of the same is logically inconsistent with the history of the franchise.I don't see any improvement next year sadly. With an inhouse promotion for DC we will see more of the same, young talents who WILL make a difference can't see the field in favor of the "system guys", overly complex play calls such as the 4th and 12 one, lack of rotation up front, etc. th defense will keep imploding.
On offense we will inevitably have injuries to key players that will limit our playbook and Marty once again will fall back on TE outs and 1-read dumpoffs, joe will continue struggling with a play philosophy that doesn't fit him, and we will always fall back on the stupid play calls when protecting a late lead.
Cap won't be any better. Middle of the round draft picks, no trade bait, a few guys who we wanna be excited about but we can't because they can only see the field if an injury gets them there(picks 2 3 and 4 last year) it's just more of the same and I don't have any optimism.
Luckily for me though, the draft is my favorite aspect of football, I've grown obsessed with it and I'm looking forward to spamming the boards with talk about this loaded WR/TE class
It is possible Roman wants to go. I seriously doubt they let him go without attempting to make an offer.I just don’t want to believe that the coaches may well keep Marty and let roman go... to me that’s close to being unforgivably stupid

thoughts that he's being pondered around the league and jim harbaugh is apparently thinking of making an offer as well - i imagine he'll have options
We can make him assistant coachi just feel like theyve put themselves in a bind - if he gets an OC offer we cant counter with an OC offer of our own because we are committing to marty
It is way too early to make these assumptions. Let the offseason play out and then make your assumptions.I don't see any improvement next year sadly. We can make him assistant coach
Well most of the D.C.'s you mentioned were from the billick days, and pagano was an in house promotion prior to harbaugh getting his roster and system in place, we were a different organization then, at this point after so many years with pees, harbaugh has a system firmly in place, he gets his way, and I feel like an in house promotion from a guy who coached under pees and harbaugh for so long is bound to keep the system and philosophy the same. Harbaugh wants wink at D.C. Because of the familiarity, not because he's gonna shake things up and bring a more fitting style. At least that's how I see it. It's just hard for me to see the same old shit and not expect more of the same old shit, in house promotions = more of the same.Just to be a contrarian, as I often am, Pagano, Sexy Rexy, and Greg Nolan, and every other DC we've had has been an inhouse promotion, and yet, only two, Mattison and Pees, were problems. I can't really disagree with the rest. Our cap is going to be in the shitter with so much money going to Brandon Williams and CJ Mosley -- who doesn't deserve it.
My only source of optimism is the young potential on both fronts. Tim Williams and Bowser will get there. Willie Henry is good. Jensen is there and must be retained. Alex Lewis, Siragusa, and Eluemunor all have potential. And I'll have optimism as long as we have a line that opens holes and keeps Joe clean. That's all you need for the most part. Just wish we had better playcalling (and decision making) to accentuate the strengths we do have.
With us retaining Marty and likely promoting wink it is not too early. It's typical harbaugh "familiarity" moves which means more of the same bullshit. It is way too early to make these assumptions. Let the offseason play out and then make your assumptions.
Eh, we'll see. People have different personalities and approaches and that may well influence how the defense looks. It'll be the same system, but systems can be made to look different. Look at Caldwell using Cam Cam's system. Looked like a totally different offense.Well most of the D.C.'s you mentioned were from the billick days, and pagano was an in house promotion prior to harbaugh getting his roster and system in place, we were a different organization then, at this point after so many years with pees, harbaugh has a system firmly in place, he gets his way, and I feel like an in house promotion from a guy who coached under pees and harbaugh for so long is bound to keep the system and philosophy the same. An example of this would be the one time Steve overruled harbaugh on a coordinator hire, he wanted hostler which would've been a disaster, Steve finally made the call on an outside hire and it was the best offense we had ever had, and when we had to replace him we went with trestman, after his firing we promoted Marty in house and he ran the same damn playbook and philosophy, he says "were growing with Marty" and in year 2 it was again the same shit.
Harbaugh inhouse promotions just sound like the definition of insanity to me. Same shit expecting different results
Greg roman and the run game deserve a big ol' fat promotion for that, Marty on the other hand deserves at most a small portion of the cheers for it, but noooo we retain Marty and roman is probably as good as goneEh, we'll see. As for Marty, we were one of the top scoring teams over the last eight weeks with an average QB, a run down line, mediocre receivers, and some run of the mill tight ends. This offense got better when Joe got better. The numbers indicate that Marty should get another chance.
Dude I wish we still had Roman. No doubt about it. We're fucking dumb for not promoting him insteadGreg roman and the run game deserve a big ol' fat promotion for that, Marty on the other hand deserves at most a small portion of the cheers for it, but noooo we retain Marty and roman is probably as good as gone
