The Random Thought Thread

Quite opposite, it's based entirely on what's going to happen with restructures - we'll screw our own selves for 3 more years if we don't stop doing that shit.
Just as @RavensMania said. The cap keeps going up at the rate it is doing so no it won't. Only guy this is really applicable for is Flacco, whom I don't want to restructure either. Highly doubt we restructure Williams, Jefferson, others, etc.

In addition, there will be another collective bargaining agreement in a few years and this will increase the cap even more (with new TV deals) as well.

Many of the contracts have restructure dollar amounts built into the contract.

I understand the negative to backloaded contracts, but with the cap going up as much as it has the last several years, it's not as much a negative as it was in the past. Sure it would be great to keep contracts level, but in reality, it doesn't work that way that often anymore.
We keep hoping cap will be raised enough. Every bloody year.
NFL just can't raise it as much as we can load on contracts' 2nd and 3rd years.

yet somehow we are always around 10m under the cap.
And always end up making enough room to get by.
FA isn't the issue. The drafting is. Teams that build solely through FA tend to fail more often than not. It can help, but we have to build from within mainly.
Not worried about the cap. Matt Miller has said it best. Manipulating room is one of the easiest things to do in the NFL. Concerns = overblown.

This is literally moot. Even Steve said we were going to do it.

Besides, none of us run the damn team. We have no say and it's best that way.

I 100% agree that we need to draft lot better than we did lately.

This is correct. We have missed on draft picks and had to supplement them in free agency, causing us to be up against the cap.

I do believe that started in 2016. We may have missed in the 2nd and 3rd round, but nailed a lot of picks. Ronnie Stanley, Judon, Henry, Young and UDFA Pierce. I also believe 2017 was a good draft and three starters will come out of that draft. If we can have another good draft this year it will be tremendous for our cap space in the future.

Nobody saw Jacksonville and Minnesota being this good this season. Nobody thought we could do shit in 2014. Nobody thought we could win it all in 2012 with the injuries we had. Guess what all of those had in common? They took gambles, only Jacksonville spent a hefty amount of money in FA and they took risks. We have to do the same.

So don't you dare say that my optimism is not grounded in reality. There's a scenario where all of this crap works. Smh
Heck, did anyone, even Eagles fans, think their team was going to be THAT good this season. I had them as a sleeper, but I didn't expect that at all. Conversely, the Raiders were considered to be a Super Bowl contender. About that.......

Point is, we can say this next season's schedule will look tough, but soooooo much can happen between now and then. We'll see.

The Eagles didn't win the Super Bowl. I refuse to believe this wasn't a nightmare.

To me it will always be .......
