The Random Thought Thread

that's partly why the offence was so good in 2014 relative to the years around it - we had multiple options - we didnt really have any standouts (although steve smith sr was on fire at times) but we had lots of options - Steve Smith, Torrey Smith, Owen Daniels (+Pitta before he got injured), Justin Forsett, Kamar Aiken, Jacoby Jones, Michael Campanaro, Marlon Brown, Juice - obviously not all of them had incredible yardage totals but every game 2-3 of the non-top-3 guys would pop up and make a couple plays and be viable options
I miss Steve Smith Senior.

Honestly, this team doesn't need a true #1 WR; it just needs 2 or 3 guys that can catch the fucking ball so that Joe can spread the ball around and move the chains.
if we want guys that can catch than hopefully we can draft 2 of these guys (st. brown, kirk, cobbs jr., miller, wilson, gallup, moore)

To add to your point, this is still a run-first team and probably always will be. It would be nice to have an elite WR on the team, but if we ever get that guy then his value is still going to be much less than if he were to play in a pass-friendly offense. Just give Joe some more options that won't let him down in key situations and I think you'll see vast improvement.

I don’t think run first/pass first really applies anymore - no run first team is winning super bowls anymore - it’s all about balance otherwise you’re 1 dimensional and you’re not gonna win - you need both
