The Random Thought Thread

We have an very talented young CB core even without Jimmy (the best CB in the league at full health)

We could go into the season with Marlon, Tavon, and Canady as the starters and I’d be comfortable with that. Maybe Wink can unleash this great defense we thought we’d see last year.

I’m rambling now but most on here seem to think we don’t have a chance to do anything with our schedule next year, but with this defense’s potential, and our offense surely being better than last year, I don’t see how it’s not realistic to think of us as a potential 10 win team.

It's very realistic to see this team under 10 wins considering they haven't won 10 games in 3 seasons and last year was supposed to be a cakewalk. The recent versions of this team have been completely unreliable even when controlling their own fate late in the season. Dropping gimme games to rookie qbs or choking away leads on 4th and 12, they haven't show any reason to have faith in them. Then add the fact they can never stay healthy and an obvious lack/misuse of overall talent.

A little ridiculous to talk about this prior to the draft and training camp. Can't we atleast wait until we see what the team starts to resemble a little later in the offseason. You may end up being right, but it's too early to say .

Or, maybe we shouldn’t base next years performance on the previous years?

Lmao I like what you did there

I mean it's all fine and dandy to be optimistic but after 3 more or less miserable years, we have nothing to hang onto. I hope I'm wrong but I don't think I am.

I sit somewhere in the middle - I’m realistic in that I see the flaws and the history but I still feel a lot more optimistic about the future of the franchise - and despite missing the playoffs 3 straight I dont feel like there’s nothing positive about those years

Sounds a little familiar

There isn't enough positive to expect 10 win season. That's just ridiculous.

Isn't that exactly what you're doing when you assume we're going to win 10 games?
Wtf how in the world did you come to that conclusion?

And when did I ever say I assumed we were winning 10 games? I never predicted 10 games. I said our team has the potential to win 10 games. Gtfo

Can’t control the schedule, and it never turns out as it looks in April anyway, but there are a lot of reasons for optimism. Offensively although they lose Jensen, they also get back two or three linemen that should be high performers. Adding Crabtree and anyone else immediately upgrades the WRs and it seems they look to add more receiving options including a TE. Dixon returns as well as Collins which should make for a potent run game.

Defensively they get a new DC and hopefully turn the page on the trend of failing at the end of games. Tavon Young and Jimmy Smith should return healthy. I think some of the young guys on the line step it up and also look for a much better season from BWill as his foot should be fully healed and the weird thing that was going on with his eyesight has been fixed.

I can understand pessimism after failure, but with a new season comes some needed additions and hopefully more healthy bodies. I mean at least wait until we play a few games prior to falling on the sword. lol

DJ totally tried Jimmy Smith right here
Ravens starts at 23:20 correct me if im wrong

This is a cool video. I watched all of it up until the Ravens and some of you can hate on Ozzie all you want, but the Ravens had the most successful 1st round picks out of like half the teams in the league (probably more but didn’t watch any farther)

And I don’t think DJ said anything wrong about Jimmy. He gave him a “meh” and said he’s played better later in his career but has only played in 2 full seasons. He knocked almost everyone else for injuries so I knew it was coming with Jimmy.

This is true. And tbf i think you can make a case that Jimmy was a hit. Eitherway im pretty happy with how successful weve been with first round picks. Only real misses were Elam and Perriman

Jimmy is 100% a hit if you aren’t accounting for injuries. I mean he did say Luck was a hit for the Colts so he wasn’t really consistent with his analysis in regards to injuries. If Luck is a hit then so is Jimmy.
