Joe Flacco

I mean the first season after the superbowl everybody either retired or went off and signed new contracts elsewhere....
2014 made it when everybody was relatively healthy and lost to the Patriots because Jimmy Smith got injured.
The 2015 season was a dud because everyone got injured before anything could even get started...
Last season the team showed that it has made some strides but also was relying upon players coming back from injuries. But showed they are a threat.

This team is not a bad team and it isn't the front office's fault that all of this occurred. To be honest I think the front office has done a pretty good job in retaining key players and signing new ones to keep this a competitive team.

Its the same excuses explaining away all our failures, the only excuse that flies is if Flacco is out. The way some fans go on youd think we were the only team with injuries, the Packers get decimated annually but Rodgers still drags his rec league squad to the playoffs every single year.

Because Rodgers is one of the best ever. Are you criticising our front office and coaches because we don't have Rodgers?
If anything, the Packers FO and coaches have failed by not putting a better team around Rodgers. We would have won a lot more than a single superbowl if we had him.

That is because Rodgers is the most physically gifted quarterback to play the game of football.....

If Rodgers had any semblance of a contending squad, they're winning every year. If the packers were fielding a middle of the pack defense like Pittsburgh or Tampa they would win the super bowl every year. Give him a run game and they're setting records in point differentials.

Anyone who criticizes our team and uses Aaron Rodgers or Tom Brady as an arguing point loses all credibility instantly.

You can say the same thing regarding Manning when he was a colt. If they had a decent defense they would have won more than one SB.

most likely.

although his only SB win as a colt was a disastrous performance from him and his defense suddenly became the best in the league. thats something people seem to forget.. his defense was garbage all season, and then when the playoffs came around they were goddamn ridiculous, nobody could move the ball on them, and peyton had a negative int/td ratio and generally played pretty shitty. so yeah i guess thats kinda proof that a strong defense on the colts wouldve put them over the top more often

Lots of presumptive hypotheticals and excuses being thrown around in lieu of results. I brought up Rodgers because we pay Flacco like hes Rodgers, Brady is an even better example because not only is he winning his extension helped the team, meanwhile we arent winning and dont have the flexibility to buy half an oline. The not winning part brings us back to my point about the post-Ray Ravens, this is Harbaugh and Flaccos team and we arent winning.

That's because Bob Sanders was healthy for the playoffs

Between endorsements and his wife (who makes WAY more than him) his salary irrelevant so he can take less.

We don't pay Flacco like he is Rodgers. We pay him 20m a year avg (yes the cap hits will be higher but years of 6m 14m and 14m will do that). Rodgers and Cousins will break 30. Ryan may break 30. We are paying Flacco the standard franchise QB rate and that's just how it works.

15 QBs can really win a SB if you give them the right pieces and you can't win without them so they get top dollar.

iirc gary brackett was the real game wrecker. he patrolled east and west and shut down every run play, dude was all over the field in those playoffs.

that was when larry johnson was crushing the whole league, i just knew the colts wouldnt be able to beat the chiefs because they couldnt stop the run, and then gary brackett shut their whole shit down

I always remember when Bob Sanders didn't play the defense was awful

I didnt say we pay Flacco like Rodgers is going to be paid.

That is the point though. The QB is constantly going up. Stafford is making 40% more than Rodgers but he isnt 40% better than Rodgers or even in his league. The pay rate of QBs is based on whichever top tier QB has there contract up at the moment. Cousins is going to have the next mega contract and he isnt better than Rodgers. If you honestly think the highest paid player is the best player in the NFL or is supposed to be you do not understand the first thing about how contracts work.

Fun fact: Rodgers had the second best defense in the NFL when they won the SB.

Yes they did and as a team the most injuries in the nfl.
Mostly backups and depth players.

Here's another fun fact: Tom Brady has played 80% of his games with a defense ranked inside the top 10 and has played less than 5 with a defense ranked outside the top 10 in the playoffs.

I know, which proves my point lol. They had a defense ONE YEAR, and won the super bowl.

Another team who has this in common? The saints.

It's no coincidence
The Packers are pretty consistently in that 7-12 range in PPG rankings. They've fallen off a bit lately because of poor secondary play, but they are overwhelmingly one of the most well rounded teams in the league.

New Orleans I can agree with. Sorry excuse for a defense year in and year out.

They dont wanna hear truth. Cant be talking like that on here

Again I said we pay Flacco like hes Rodgers because they make the same amount, a little more if we're being pedantic. I didnt make any allusions to what the cap increase will be because future allieviation comes too late to to save us from 3 embarrassing seasons.
