Joe Flacco

exactly - we know an unhealthy flacco is not actually a good option for this team - the coaching staff wont view it that way because they trust joe but the best thing might be to play Lamar, let him see if he can spark the offence, let joe get healthy and then joe can rip up the bad defences we've got left to face down the stretch - that feels like the best case to me - and you know cinci is gonna bring all sorts of blitzes at joe to test his body and joe's never been good vs the blitz even when healthy - given how bad the bengals defence has been too, if they're blitzing they're gonna leave so many holes to exploit especially if we have Lamar's (or RGIII)'s mobility

but heyho - im not the coaching staff and obviously we dont know how bad joe's injury is
The main issue with this is Lamar Jackson may not be ready to have his first start and I'd rather play RG3 if this is the case. I don't want to throw LJ to the wolves and ruin his confidence. I want to see LJ play as much as everyone else does, but not if he isn't ready.

maybe he isnt ready but from what we've seen so far they trust him to be ready multiple plays a game and have been talking about him being ready to play a full series

well if they trust him for a full series then they must trust him enough to be ready to play a full game because you're never on the field longer than a series at a time...

that's just how i see it from what we've been shown by the coaching staff - and from the way he's handled the on-field pressures and situational football

the only thing we havent really seen from lamar yet is dealing with 3rd and long and therefore obvious passing situations where you're behind the chains - but we've only not seen that because he hasnt been put in those situations which tbf of course could be an indicator that he's not ready but more likely is that they would trust joe more in 3rd and long every time given his arm and experience

I think now is a perfect time. It gives him 7 games to get his feet wet and it will show what he is capable of going into next year.

They can practice a limited number of plays he would be involved with if it was limited to a series, but if it's a full game then it's much different. He's also going to have to read the defense pre snap and maybe he's not completely ready to call the plays for an entire game. I'm not saying he isn't ready, but if he isn't, I'd rather play RG3.

To add to your point, just look at Rivers: he has one of the worst-looking throwing motions I've ever seen and is one of the best QBs in the league. Jackson just needs to get consistent with his mechanics and he has a ton of potential regardless of how it looks.
Rivers does have an awkward throwing motion but it works for him so I guess it’s fine.

Well Flacco is not practicing today . Rumors are they are preparing Lamar to start.
Flacco not practicing means nothing. Last year he didn’t practice the whole camp and didn’t take a PS snap and started week 1. And no matter how hot harbs seat is, he won’t have the balls to start lamar before we’re mathematically eliminated. If joe is able to play I’m almost certain he will

I think RG3 gets the nod.

If Joe isnt practicing after 1 1/2 weeks off , I suspect he has a major problem with his hip.

I hope Joe can still play but it's doubtful. I'm excited for Lamar but this is an extreamly important game.
After seeing this same story play out over and over, I have no faith that joe gets us to the playoffs, absolutely zero faith. And after seeing what joe looks like playing injured behind a shit OL, I have even less faith.

It’s an injured Flacco, our OL, Marty, and no run game, yet you feel Flacco gives us enough chance to win to continue delaying Lamar’s development?

I give no fucks about our final record because I am 90% sure we miss the playoffs, and that 90% jumps up to 99% if an injured Flacco starts the remainder of the year

Your math is wrong, it's 99% now (if we are realistic) and 100% if Joe is in injured.

Oof. Joe Flacco is the second least pressured quarterback in the NFL. That's a gut punch.

You're referring to this graphic right? Pass blocking is great, but I saw another stat about yard before contact and we're bottom five.

Wow. As if we needed more proof that Flacco is done.
