We can't do anything about his cap hit, you know that?Any other team and flacco would have been replaced by now. He is the liability in our team on both a play and cap level.

I honestly think this is overplayed. Flacco hasn't looked good since 2014. It wasn't a sudden downturn. It's been a gradual regression.
It's better to move on and get savings of $4M then keep him on the roster with his replacement incoming. We can't do anything about his cap hit, you know that?

Yep, he has a 24.7 m cap hit and if released its 28.7 m. That can be spread out over the years but it’s 4m more to cut himWe don’t get $4m savings - if we cut flacco we lose even more cap space than keeping him and sitting him in the bench
Your maths is wrong, no savings if released, dead money is $4 M more than cap hitIt's better to move on and get savings of $4M then keep him on the roster with his replacement incoming.
I think Mike Wallace is a good #2, but this team really thought Perriman would step up as the #1 WR and it has been a gut punch to this team. Words cannot explain how big of a disappointment he has been this season and how that has hurt Maclin and Wallace in the process.I thought the deep ball went right through his hands, not in them, but it's a moot point. I'm done with Wallace. He hasn't shown me much. As for the TEs, both Maxx and Boyle could be playmakers if they weren't so damn slow. There was one play in particular where they try to do a a crossing route with Maxx (I think?) and the play would've worked had he gained enough separation.
I mean seriously, Flacco threw for less than 150 yards against THIS Texans secondary. LESS THAN A HUNDRED-FIFTY YARDS. Reading this thread and the Texans recap thread, you would've believed we lost the game. That's how disgusted we all are about this "offense."
You're right, the cap savings come in the next year.Your maths is wrong, no savings if released, dead money is $4 M more than cap hit
I would be totally disappointed if Ozzie did that, I would much prefer to use a 1st round pick on a QB then pay for McCarron. There's a lot of math and statistics out there that shows that back ups QBs from other teams do not preform well and much more often then not fail. It would be a total waste of money in a pivotal year. So, AJ McCarron is expected to campaign for free agency this offseason, otherwise he'd be a RFA of the Bengals. What do we think the odds are that if he reaches FA, Ozzie will go after Bama Boy?
Doesn't work that way, I'm afraid. That guaranteed bit still counts against our salary cap. You're right, the cap savings come in the next year.
With that said, I still think you should move on even if it isn't there. Someone will take if off our hands via trade and it allows you to plug someone in.
I'm very aware that the cap is still a big deal but I personally believe you take the assets if they're there.Doesn't work that way, I'm afraid. That guaranteed bit still counts against our salary cap.
Even if it does, who in their right mind would trade for Joe based on how he plays and for how much coin?

He will absolutely have interest. If you're a team like the Jaguars you would definitely take him over Bortles. I know Joe has been awful this season but history shows that teams will pay up for a guy who isn't what he used to be. I mean the Rams tried to get Brett Farve out of retirement three years after he retired.
Regardless, I'm very confident there will be interest in him if he's available.
You still have to pay the dead cap, even with a trade. The salary will be traded yes, bu the guaranteed money will not. You're right, the cap savings come in the next year.

Okay, so Joe won't have any interest. But teams will trade for Carson Palmer who was retired. They'll do it for Sam Bradford who torn his ACL twice and has been an injury riddled QB. Brett Farve who was 44/43 and three years out of Football got a call from the Ravens. Why would Joe have no interest?Nope. the league can see he's an utter liability and on a fast downward spiral. His accuracy is non-existent. His decison making as bad as ever and his footwork is a LOST CAUSE.
I understand that, but at the same time you still have to move on regardless if you can get assets and have plans for a young QB. I understand the cap doesn't go away with trading him and some teams has to consider the money they're taking in.You still have to pay the dead cap, even with a trade. He’s here through the end of the 2018 season at the earliest.I understand that, but at the same time you still have to move on regardless if you can get assets and have plans for a young QB. Do you have a link to any of these studies?I would be totally disappointed if Ozzie did that, I would much prefer to use a 1st round pick on a QB then pay for McCarron.
