Joe Flacco

Dude... @Tank you are one of the biggest Flacco enthusiasts on this board, and I have always tried to see your statements as something other than blind homerism like many people say. But the fact that you think me saying Flacco isn't a top 10 QB, but 15-20, is funny, and that you think he is easily a top 10 QB next year, basically proves you are a blind Flacco fanboy.

I have always been one of Joe's biggest fans. I have 2 Flacco jerseys. But there is a difference between being a realistic fan and someone who is completely absurd with their opinions just because they are a fan. I do not think Joe is a terrible QB. Obviously the back injury held him back last year. But unless he proves otherwise, no one has the right to say he is a top 10 QB. Sorry.

All QBs that a non-biased person would take over Flacco

  2. Drew Brees
  3. Matt Ryan
  4. Carson Wentz
  5. Russell Wilson
  6. Philip Rivers
  7. Aaron Rodgers
  8. Matthew Stafford
  9. Kirk Cousins
  10. Ben Roethlisberger
  11. Jimmy Garoppolo
  12. Andrew Luck
  13. Alex Smith
  14. Derek Carr
  15. Cam Newton
  16. Jared Goff
  17. Deshaun Watson
  18. Sam Bradford (for one game)
And this is where you get into healthy Flacco territory. You can argue you might take him above a couple of others, and you could argue a couple that aren't listed should be above him. Hell even with the way Case Keenum played last year he should be above Flacco as of right now.

Flacco is an average QB. There is nothing wrong with that. There is nothing wrong with being a top 15-20 QB that can win in the playoffs and can have stretches of great games.

Take off the purple shades.

I literally just said I'm not usually one to call anyone else a homer. But to think Flacco is easily a top 10 QB is flat out homerism.

What is the point of arguing over a prediction? He said Flacco will be top 10 this year. That isn't exactly far fatched. Much more reasonable than the list you gave was.

Some opinions are idiotic. Some people clearly don't know anything about the game. A ton of people here seem to think being a pessimist equates to being a realist.

But to call someone a homer because they think Flacco will have a very good year? See above.
 
I’ll never understand why it’s such a foreign concept that quality receivers help to make a QB a better player. It’s really not rocket science. A pass has to be caught to be a reception and better receivers catch more passes.

the facts pretty much say flacco wasent dominating at all and he certainly wasent going against a top defense by your standards.

20-35 269 yards 2 TD 1 INT is not dominating imo.
its a good performance for sure though.
Dominating id say where his games against the colts and lions if we want to use that word loosely.

Personally id see the games that he dominated as those on the SB run or the 2011 and 2014 pats play off games or where he threw 5 TDs in a half against the bucs.

And a quality QB helps make the entire offense better.

A pass has to be catchable before it can be caught and it becomes a reception regardless of the quality of the Reciever.
Not even Prime Moss or Megatron can catch a pass that ends in the stands.

When hitting a receiver in stride is a foreign concept to the QB , the quality of the receivers might be the least of the worries.

quite frankly when everything keeps changing except the 1 constant factor being the QB leads to the same shitty results we have been seeing for years now , the issue might not be what changes but what remains the same......

throught out his career when and how many times did he actually hit the top 10 and by what are we going by?

2010 one could argue statisticially as he was 10th in a quite a few passing stats.

yeah, my original post wasn't actually a prediction for this year per se. It was more to illustrate the need for the "basics" for any QB to succeed, and how history has shown when Joe had those basic pieces he has succeeded.

As you mention the jury is still out on whether the Ravens will have the needed parts this year, but it seems signs are pointing in that direction. They've had a lot of misfortune with key injuries, poor signings, etc. the past few years, odds are that now it's time for some good fortune!

Well, Tru I think you already know I don't care much for stats. When I say I don't think he'll be top 10 this year, I'm talking more about the eyeball test; i.e., what he does on the field, not what his stats say. There's no way he's going to have much of a connection with a brand new WR cast, and that WR cast isn't much to begin with, outside of Crabtree...and we still dont really know what our OL is going to look like or if he'll have anything worthwhile to throw to at TE.
Statistically, I'd be happy if he just ranked in the top 20 this year.
