The WR Thread

Can we steal some scouts from the steelers organization to show us how to draft WRs? Juju is killing it

We could've drafted juju... smh.

Although I think bowser is gonna be a future perennial pro bowler

I really wanted juju here - had him higher on my big board than bowser but it’s not like I didn’t like bowser I just really liked juju - I had a borderline 2nd/1st round grade on him - if I remember correctly I think he was around maybe the 37th or 38th player on my board

I liked juju as our second, but I had bowser borderline first round talent kinda guy. I would've been ecstatic with either pick.

One thing I don't understand is that Ozzie just won't draft a wr who isn't fast. He isn't al Davis, but he definitely thinks speed is a prerequisite for NFL receivers. If juju was there in the THIRD I don't know if we would've taken him lol

So i just watched some more tape on Courtland Sutton particularly 2017 tape and i came away very impressed with his improvements. Hes running good routes this year. Hes making good sharp cuts rather than rounding his routes. He uses head fakes as well something he never did in 2016. His traits pop on tape. He wins 50/50 ball like theyre 80/20 balls. His size and ability to break tackles is fantastic as well. He did have one drop because he took his eyes off the ball but hes done an excellent job at using his hands to catch pass and highpointing the ball rather than letting it come to his body.

I used to think Sutton was another Perriman with his skillset and how raw he is. However, after seeing him in 2017 so far hes worked on a lot of those things and it shows up on tape

Take a look for yourself

I like sutton. He's kind of raw so not sure if bobby engram is the best guy for the job if we select him. But he has the size / tools. Want to see how he does against the press though. One knock I read on him is he isn't aggressive. I would take him if he's there in the 2nd though.

Was about to say I'm more impressed by him this year. What stands out as different is his quickness that took a massive boost, from his getoff at the snap to his change of direction skills.

I agree with the notion that he isnt agressive enough. You can see him on tape not always fight back to the ball. He also has a hard time extending his arms to make the catch.

James Washington is also totally different on tape. He may not run many routes but he stems them differently. Hes a senior so hes had plenty of time to work on his craft. Same issue with Sutton though....doesnt always fight back to the ball, and doesnt consistently extend his arms to make the catch

I hate to say it but i feel like the lack of improvement from Moore and Perriman could fall on Bobby Imgrams lack of coaching. We may need to look for a new WR coach lol

Yes, of course, WR coach is something we need right now. Engram hasn't developped any talent to speak of. We've been able to developp a lot of position but WT wasn't one of them. Then again, not sure Moore and Perriman are the easiest to developp.

I don’t like Washington at all. He seems one dimensional. Just 9 routes. He may fly pass them college corners, but in the NFL, you’re going to need more than speed to be great. Ask perriman.

With that said, I wouldnt be surprised if we draft him. With ozzie’s Track record.. Washington is another perriman / Chris Moore pick. I feel like I’m going to keep saying “please not Washington, please not Washington.” Up until he walks up on stage with a ravens hat on Thursday night. Flashback to perriman draft

He doesnt only run 9 routes, thats just where hes most effecctive. 9s and post routes. He runs other routes hes just not as effective. He doesnt do well when contested because he never extends his arms out. He does make some fantastic one handed grabs however

All I know is I wouldn't be comfortable taking him with our first round pick.

I agree theres 3 recievers id take before him too. My top 5 reciever rankings right now are as follows
1. Calvin Ridley
2. Anthony Miller
3. Deon Cain
4. Courtland Sutton
5. James Washington

Of course this can change and only the top 3 seem to be consistent enough to seperate themselves from the pack. Sutton is the wildcard of the group. He could be the most talented too
