The WR Thread

Christian Kirk is a killer on the in and out in the redzone. I've gotten on board with him.

I would love to see us trade back in the early second and pick up an early third, grab Kirk, grab a top OL, DB, or TE if one is valuable enough, and if deon Cain is there say fuck it and stack up on WRs, then just go 3 straight BPA in the third absolutely regardless of position, get us a WR, add a player in another position of need, and then do your best to get a talent who is gonna contribute and don't worry about need in the third, you have that luxury when you trade back and get 3 picks in the third.

I like this idea especially given the murky nature of talent we’re gonna find towards the end of the first round this year (more picks are gonna be a huge deal this year) - id be pumped for a scenario like this - 5 picks on day 2 would be lush

I'm pretty much a trade back guy every year but this year if we go to the play offs it makes a ton of sense given the near non existent drop off between picks 20 and 35

The only time I'm not a trade back guy is when he situation is perfect, I think with Humphrey and OJ being available at 16 last draft it was best to stay put, same with Stanley at 6, big needs great value. I'd just be shocked if we had that situation this year, maybe Harrison if we see safety as a big enough need, maybe Rahsaan Evans, but I don't see a talent at wr/cb/ol/te being a totally obvious choice in the 20s, and I'm not sold that a LB or S should be a first round pick just yet, I think we're better off riding it out with weddle and Jefferson at S for one more year, and ride it out with peanut and try bowser at ILB before we make a drastic move like that

I also hope we use dime more and more even potentially on base downs given how good Williams and pierce and Davis are clogging the run which would reduce the need for a conventional inside linebacker

I agree with you that Kirk is a playmaker that would really help. He also has talent as a kick and punt returner which is something that never hurts. What do you think of St. Brown from Notre Dame?

I don't know much about Sutton but he keeps getting mocked to us in the 1st. Does he have drop issues? That's what I've been reading.

2 questions. 1. Will he be available there or is he a late first round pick

And

2. Is it worth getting out of the first round to do it. First round picks and that 5th year option are power that I would hate giving up.

No, not really. He tended to be a clap catcher last year but it looks like he doesn't do that anymore. Will need to see him catch more "laser" passes to be sure though but at this point nothing tells me it's a problem.

Picking up an extra third in this class where the difference between late first-late second talent is minimal, and same for the 2nd-3rd? Absolutely worth it. And I think Kirk is an early 2nd

He improved catching technique a lot and looks every bit the first rounder now.

Cedrick Wilson of Boise St. is a guy I looked into today, and seems like the most underrated WR in this draft. If we pass on the first round guys, then he's the guy I want in the second. He's incredible at tracking the ball and is such a natural hands catcher.

So its weird...did Courtland Sutton have a new QB this season? From the tape ive seen id say hes improved from last year but his Rec and yards are down...what gives??? He should be torching his competition like anthony miller is, and miller isnt half the athelete Sutton is

Ya i like him. 2nd is way too early though. Hes not the biggest or the fastest. He'll probably fall to the 4th unless someone takes him in the 3rd

From earlier this year, Voch Lambardi did a film study on Christian Kirk. The thing that surprised me is that Kirk is a decent blocker for his size, and doesn't shy away from doing it.

Hes always been a high effort guy. Hard worker, probably the hardest worker Texas A&M has ever had

He doesnt get much buzz like the other wrs but renfrow out of clemson is nice. Id love for us to grab him in the 2nd rnd. Dude a hardworker and got hands along with the yac that he gets.
