The WR Thread

Probably. I have not watched Kirk at all yet. And Sutton very little. However so far in my opinion Suttons separation skills for the NFL are very overrated. And DJ Moore is an intriguing running back convert. He would be an awesome dual threat after bulking to about 220 lbs.
funny i had some similar thoughts. i hated sutton until i saw his film this year where he drastically improved his route running and he has shown very natural hands catching and physicality. i suggest taking another look and paying attention to how well he throws his big frame around to keep db's off his tail and constantly maintaining the upper hand in coverage.

and dj moore i too see a gadget guy, not a rb convert per se, but like a tyreek hill type of guy you scheme open and force feed quality touches and get him in space, i think hes got a ton of work to be a starting wr, but his ceiling is about as high as it gets, his YAC ability is absurd, but im far from sold on his routes and his hands.

if hes there in the third though? ill take him in a heartbeat, as far as day 2 guys go though id take cedrick wilson and auden tate and anthony miller first without question.

that low? is he slow? why do you think he's such a deep day 3 pick?
from what ive seen, he looks like a project. hes not fast but not necessarily slow, but he has no apparent skills in the route running department, he looks like he could be another TE/WR hybrid project like waller/mayle.

i just think if he ever becomes more than an occasionally productive niche player, that it will take a long time. guys like him so often seem to struggle to find their spot on the field because they dont stand out enough in some areas that are needed in the nfl. hes big and long, he can highpoint moderately well, but he isnt striking fear into defenses with speed or ability to get open and blow coverages. hell tommy streeter could highpoint all day and was much faster, but he couldnt beat press or run a route to save his life.

and this isnt to say i dont like lazard, id love for us to take a 5th round flyer on him if we could, im all for taking big and strong and aggressive wrs who can catch late in the draft, thats how you build depth and get surprise talents, i just try not to get caught up in the 6'5" hype and focus on what may hurt him.

I don't see Lazard ever struggling against press.
Maybe you're right and he'll be a one trick pony but I think we miss that trick a lot in our offense. Like Zrebiec said, when was the last time we scored on a fade?

To be honest Ridley is the only receiver in the draft. Sutton looks like a total loser. I wouldn't draft him til round3 at least. But I do have a lot of catching up to do. Maybe we can use that loser Breshad the Bust to trade into top10 lol. Seriously if we draft a wr we need to be specific. Not that Bs whoever the best wr when on the clock. Nor the BS we will take a receiver if a late round1 talent falls to round3. Which caused us to pick NFL draft garbage Tyus Bowser over JuJu

First off, what makes Sutton a loser? Second, what makes bowser garbage?

Tbf I personally had juju with a fringe 1st round grade
I had a late 2nd on him and I believe pretty much everyone did. (Plus I don't remember Sledge ever hyping him but that's another story) Juju was a pleasure to watch but honestly he didn't have a lot for him. Average athleticism, good not great size, unrefined route running... All he really had was the feistiness.

sometimes when im grading i allow myself to take the whole and not just the sum of the parts and evaluate the intangible je ne sais quoi lol - i allow myself to elevate the grades of some guys who i really think will succeed even if i cant exactly say why i have them as high as i do - juju was one of them, so was ahkello witherspoon - they were the 2 main ones i can think of - i think of it like my equivalent of one of those stars that the ravens scouts put by "their guy" (only my guys arent correa and kaufusi lol)

I had a late 2nd early 3rd round grade on JuJu and loved the Bowser Pick.

Won't amount to a hill of beans in the NFL is what makes'em losers!! Bowser may eventually make a pretty good 4-3 linebacker. But he has a trait you will eventually begin to see that makes him a useless loser as an edge rusher. When he gets more play time it will become more evident. I know u really want him to succeed after the Correa disaster. And believe me dude I really really hope I'm wrong about him. But in a way he is a repeated mistake more similar to Correa than u think

What trait is that?

Juju was my favorite WR in the draft. Bowser I hated the pick at time. Watched a couple of his sacks talked myself into liking him 4 a while. But realized he was more similar to Correa than we would like
