The WR Thread

But to be fair, Flacco had a, well, you-know-how-to-describe-it performance against the Pats in 2009 (my birthday mind you!). Bortles did follow-up with a solid performance against the Steelers.
But to be fair, flacco shouldn't have been on the field. He could hardly walk

McShay have Ridley falling to us at 16. Tell me why I’m not feeling the Ridley pick as much as I did at the start of the whole off season. He has a high floor but I don’t see the high ceiling of a Star WR1. His ceiling seems to be a high WR2.

Not only am I a fan of Ridley because of his combination of speed and route running ability. However I love his ability to stop on a dime and make sudden movements to create separation. Don't pay attention to the media, watch him for yourself.

Remember how we all loved cj Mosley his whole college career and we were all sad that he would never be in our range? Remember how we had our first down year and he started falling because of injuries and an average combine and bama hate? And due to these things he actually fell to us and we finally found the cornerstone of our defense we had been missing?

Guys... it's happening right now with Ridley. Almost the same exact thing, except replace injuries with age and there you have it.

Ridley is gonna be a raven. I just have this feeling. There is gonna be a wr who bypasses him, and everyone else is gonna just wait it out to take advantage of the day 2 talent at wr.

Same here, and I would love this!

I mean it's completely possible, my problem though is who is gonna bypass him to get us over that hump? There's gonna be at least 1 team that takes a wr, if someone can rise over Ridley to be that top guy then we have a real good chance. The truth is, he isn't the spectacular Julio jones/aj green/Odell Beckham freakish prospect who can catch anything thrown within 10 yards of them, he isn't running like john Ross, what is there that makes teams really extremely enticed with him? I mean there's the tape obviously, but we've seen it for years now, freakish measurables get coaches and gms salivating in the top half of the first. The last guy I saw go in the top half who didn't have some kind of freakish measurables was Sammy Watkins and even that's a stretch because he had good size and elite quickness and ran the same 40 time 1 inch taller and 20 lbs heavier.

Calvin Ridley doesn't have those freakish measurables that make gms make bonehead picks(like Perriman or john Ross)

Just joking, anything is possible.

Thats not how I remember Mosely at all. In fact, I started a thread three weeks before that draft entitled, "the case for CJ Moseley" ( yes I spelled his name wrong), and the overwhelming response was, "NOOOOOOO.....
Anyway, to your point....he is still the best receiver in this class but someone might prefer Sutton to him so far as the type of receiver he is....I doubt we get to 16 with no receivers taken so someone would have to prefer a prospect to him in order for Ridley to be there.
I do agree with you in that there does seem to be something in the water and it feels right now as if it might be a 50/50 proposition.

We all loved Mosley just not for us because we didn't know Arthur brown was a world class shitbag yet. But prior to us drafting brown, everyone was in anticipation of mosleys year because he was colleges premiere LB and we knew we needed one.

If we didn't draft Arthur brown there wouldn't have been a more coveted realistic prospect that year, but Mosley wasn't even considered realistic for the ravens until we missed the playoffs for the first time in forever and he began sliding due to concerns about his shoulder

Agreed. I think this draft will end up being similar to 2010. Dez Bryant was considered the best all around wide receiver in the class, at one point, a no-brainer top 10 pick. As the combine passed, questions started to rise, and come draft time, not only did Bryant fall, he was also the 2nd WR selected. The broncos went with the guy who was raw better measurables, Demaryius Thomas at 22, dez went 2 picks later at 24. It’s definitely possible.

He is absolutely the type of receiver we need in Bmore. He will hit the ground running, no pun intended. With his amazing route running skills and sudden breaks and footwork. He will have a very good career. He doesn't need to be Julio Jones, AB or OBJ.
