The WR Thread

Kirk would be perfect in the slot with Crabtree and John brown outside. Plus he’ll automatically be our return specialist. If he makes it out the first round, I hope Ozzie make some calls before the 2nd day starts and move up.
Ya with Crabtree, Kirk would be a perfect fit for us. Catches the ball well, runs good clean routes, and provides us with more YAC ability. Although so does DJ Moore and Calvin Ridley. Theyre all different in their own way but theyre all good catchers and route runners who give YAC potential.

I kept seeing the same problem show up in his 2017 film. Im not sure hes taking it very seriously either after listening to his combine presser. Had a sarcastic remark when he mention someone told him he has bad catching technique

Crazy i was just watching him last night and was thinking the way he catches the ball increases his chances of dropping it

For some reason I think Kirk is a better fit for us than Moore. I can't put my finger on it but he just looks more natural in our scheme.

Kirk is the more natural soft hands catcher but Moore is the more aggressive attack style catcher with hands that could be more reliable and clean. Other than that I think they're very similar

@rossihunter2 going back to Cain, I think his TDs vs Wake Forest and Miami both show how he can shrug off press coverage and force DBs to respect his release. He gets a step on his opponent right from the start and from then on it's over. His speed and adjustement do the rest. I've never seen a WR make a 30+ yds TD look so easy.
He's a guy you definitely don't want to press because he'll make you look bad and make you pay for it.

ill be honest - the miami td was a great juke to set up a great stem but it didnt really look like press coverage to me at all - that being said it was a good route - i just dont see it as a definitive example of why cain would normally beat press easily - especially given the circumstances of the game - this was a long, tiring game for miami who had nothing go their way all day and this was the salt in the wound at the end

the wake forest move is a good move but ive seen him use the same move to break the initial contact from better corners but then not have the ability to separate once he's done that first bit - he's good at playing press at the line but im not sure ive seen him make decent corners pay for pressing him often enough for me...

im not saying he doesnt have this ability at all im just not personally seeing on film something that im enamoured with in cain

In the «victim of his QB» category, Michael Gallup is taking the first place imo. The number of times he was overthrown or underthrown even though he was wide open and had his CB toasted is completely infuriating...

Yeah, if Cain is gone, I'd have no qualms with Washington. I don't think Gesicki will be there after his combine.
I like certain things about Gesicki but am not as high on him as some.

You're right, his combine performance moves him. But I have to say that in almost no way other than the hops, does the combine athleticism translate to how he actually plays.

Gallup isn't mentioned enough.
