The Ugly, the Ugly, and the Awful: Week 3 Edition

i just wanna know how these awful offenses without olines and receivers can conjure up some offence against half decent defences but we only get 15 yards in a half - like we literally have the worst ability to scheme on offence and i dont know why...

The routes concepts are very basic from my evaluations of today, it's really a bunch of streak and slant routes, which is common in a WCO but you need to make DBs question and hesitant and where a WR is going.

Your QB also has to flat out put the ball in his receivers hands. It just doesn't get more simple than that and Joe has issues doing that. He's either not waiting long enough for the play to develop, not on the same page as his receivers, or missing his guys. Just so many reasons why and I've seen Wallace get plenty of separation and DBs and too many times Joe has mis-fired. Even I get frustrated from it and I do not blame Mike Wallace at all if he has something to say about it tomorrow, he should be very frustrated after today. Joe just doesn't seem dependable anymore and bad QB play is starting to become expected to me. He needs to step up and get his guys involved or else this team will begin thinking about other avenues.

You can't keep firing OC's either, it's a bad look for a HC sometimes.

Didn't we fire an OC during the season? Oh and for your other smart ass remark. The Steelers lost in OT and almost won. We got owned. Not the same thing nor even close.
Actually at the end of the day it is exactly the same. We don't get 3 Ls just because we lost by 40 or whatever. lol

lol it's sad to come to these boards after an L we looked bad but Jesus it was ONE game like a bunch of children crying and over reacting lol next week when we beat the steelers it'll be the second coming of Jesus and we just had a bad week

i thought we were keeping our schemes vanilla because we could win without - but when we needed complexity or new ideas we added nothing - we rushed 4, ran very vanilla coverages, after the nice blocking scheme from week 1 we ran nothing even remotely complex or creative - its like our coordinators arent able to problem solve in game - if they cant foresee a problem before the game then they cant adjust

I don't care who they put on the offensive line, a Super Bowl MVP should not finish a game with 8 completions for 28 yards passing ever!
That's not even 4 yards per completion which is abysmal in itself.

The guy told reports "Chemistry is overblown" as if he didn't need any extra reps with his WRs, new Center etc, but he's throwing balls, behind, high and off the head of guys. Hell one play he had time and he panicked ran forward and threw a jump pass!
He's thrown a pick in 9 straight games smh.

The defense was terrible from the start, they didn't pressure Bortles enough, they didn't create any turnovers from a QB that has been a turnover machine the last few years.

Overall coaching failed to make any adjustments to get us back in the game, at 23-0 I thought maybe we can score a td get a turnover and get back in this. But nope Flacco just tossed a pick and gave away a quick score closing the door.

Harbaugh's missed the playoffs 3/4 years. He's on the verge of getting fired if he misses it again this year, extension or not. I've been saying that since the beggining. I'd honestly have no issues him going. He'd be hired elsewhere though.

Flacco has turned into a massive problem for us since Kubiak left. Sure, Ozzie decided to go "fuck it" and not give him much protection, but he's still missing throws and whatnot. We can't get rid of him due to that contract, but it might be high time to draft another QB early. Even if it's just to push competition.

The good news is, Flacco seems to be self aware that he's a problem given his interviews this and last year. So maybe, just maybe, he'd be willing to take a fucking paycut next season: but I doubt it. Sadly, he has a damn good agent.

I still think even with the bad loss, so many people are overreacting. It's the NFL. Any given sunday any team can win. Blowing up the team and rebuilding would be totally asinine, even if we decided to draft a QB early on(sure. Let's not give the QB a talented defense, or a decent WR corps. BRILLIANT). Look at Chicago. They have a team that is far worse than Jacksonville's and they still beat a team with an elite offense. Jacksonville isn't as bad as even I thought they were going to be. That defense is damn talented. Calling for a rebuild with a 2-1 record is the definition of illogical. Especially since for all we know, this could be an anomaly. We've lost games in blowouts in seasons we've made the playoffs before. Not this bad? Sure. But really how different is a 40 point loss than a 30 point loss(by ten points, sure, but at the end of the day it's humiliating). For all we know ,we could bounce back next week. And guess what, we'd have the division lead by a clear cut mile. In fact, we're still in first place lol..

Giving up and demanding a rebuild, and blowing up the team? Even if we do draft a QB high, is DUMB. Sorry. I agree, Flacco needs to play a hell of a lot better. He's become a liability. But calling for a full-scale rebuild? Wow. That's desperate. Sure, let's trade away all of our pieces when honestly we are an offensive line and being healthy again away from being a good team again. That makes so much sense....

it was one L but it was an abysmal performance and we were absolutely beatdown - so yes it counts the same as the bears beating the steelers but we have a lot of problems that need fixing on that showing and so i feel pretty righteous in my anger and legitimate in my feelings of concern

When I noticed this during the game I was just in disbelief. Third quarter and the team had more penalty yards than Total yards. :brickwall:

No it isn't the same at all. One is a loss and one is a complete ineptitude as a football team. Not even on the same planet. No one would be reacting the same if we lost in OT and put up a fight. We had maybe 8 positive plays the entire game.

I don't judge anger. But it's illogical to demand a full scale rebuild with a 2-1 record and the division lead. Sure, we could be 2-3 by the end of next week, but we also couldn't. We don't know. This is the NFL, teams are more than capable of a bounce back week. Cleaning out the coaching staff would be different, but it's hard to find a good quality coach in the NFL. It's a lot easier to find bad ones. So even if I do want Harbaugh gone if we miss the playoffs, I still think Steve might keep him around.

We lost, badly. We as fans literally can't do anything about it. You can complain all you want. But we need to get the fuck over it eventually though. It could all change again next week. We could beat the steelers, have a clear lead in the division, and have a good, tough game against Oakland and be 4-1 for all we know going into Chicago. Season's still young, and we have a winning record. We don't know how it's going to go.

hey if we go 4-1 all will be forgiven but i dont feel great about this loss in what should have been a very winnable game - when bortles looks like a viable nfl qb then you know your team has done something awful

Think about it however you want, but a loss is a loss.

I get that. But saying a full scale rebuild is in order is beyond overreactionary. It's extreme. We are far more like the Mike Singletary 49ers who had the talent but needed a better HC than the New York Jets.

Similar to the excuses being made for a qb who completed 8 passes for 28 yards thru 3 quarters of a game. I do agree with you though. Ozzies eye for offensive weapons isn't great, at least at wr. He can't be blamed for 4 guards either getting IR'd or retiring. Or the fact that our qb doesn't realize it's his job to get the "receivers" involved in the passing game. That is when they're not dropping the few passes he actually gets to them.

Let's go Bears...

As i TYPED THEY FUCKING SCORED... YESSSS
I have seen not one person make excuses for Flacco. He was just as putrid today.

im not suggesting we need to fully rebuild but im not beyond saying we need to look very hard and very carefully at the way we are coaching and scheming - we need to reevaluate and replan rather than rebuild

Didn't mean today, but in the past. This whole team was dumpster juice today.
lol I am talking about today man. Only mentioned the past in general terms to show how mediocre we are from year to year to year lately. Yet we keep doing the same old shit in terms of drafting and FA that we've always do. Same old vanilla coordinators (both sides of the ball) because either we're too cheap for top talent or they're Harbs buddies ( no idea which one or a combo of both of those things). There were better choices than Marty around and we let our back-up for Pees get stolen. Time for them to take a walk and Harbs too if things don't turn around.
