The Ugly, the Ugly, and the Awful: Week 3 Edition

But there's no way Rodgers doesn't win today. After all the bengals lost to the Ravens a couple of weeks ago, so......
Oh stop being an ass. There isn't anyone making that claim. Not sure what part of today you did not find a complete failure. No other team that anyone considers "good" has a total meltdown on every side of the ball like we did today. It isn't the loss. I kind of expected us to lose. First trip abroad for a game, I thought they waited too long to leave, we always have that game where we play down to the other team. But this? This showed us how much the off season did nothing for us. We are still that team that seems to play our division tight and can't even look like an NFL team against other teams.

Not an excuse but I just can't fathom how a team can lose valuable players week after week after week.

Any word on Urban? Man I hope his foot isn't bad and holy shit I hope Bwill is back next week.

lol I am talking about today man. Only mentioned the past in general terms to show how mediocre we are from year to year to year lately. Yet we keep doing the same old shit in terms of drafting and FA that we've always do. Same old vanilla coordinators (both sides of the ball) because either we're too cheap for top talent or they're Harbs buddies ( no idea which one or a combo of both of those things). There were better choices than Marty around and we let our back-up for Pees get stolen. Time for them to take a walk and Harbs too if things don't turn around.

I honestly don't see Harbaugh going anywhere regardless of how this season ends. I think he and his staff get at least one more season, but we'll see how things turn out.

Harbaugh's missed the playoffs 3/4 years. He's on the verge of getting fired if he misses it again this year, extension or not. I've been saying that since the beggining. I'd honestly have no issues him going. He'd be hired elsewhere though.

Flacco has turned into a massive problem for us since Kubiak left. Sure, Ozzie decided to go "fuck it" and not give him much protection, but he's still missing throws and whatnot. We can't get rid of him due to that contract, but it might be high time to draft another QB early. Even if it's just to push competition.

The good news is, Flacco seems to be self aware that he's a problem given his interviews this and last year. So maybe, just maybe, he'd be willing to take a fucking paycut next season: but I doubt it. Sadly, he has a damn good agent.

I still think even with the bad loss, so many people are overreacting. It's the NFL. Any given sunday any team can win. Blowing up the team and rebuilding would be totally asinine, even if we decided to draft a QB early on(sure. Let's not give the QB a talented defense, or a decent WR corps. BRILLIANT). Look at Chicago. They have a team that is far worse than Jacksonville's and they still beat a team with an elite offense. Jacksonville isn't as bad as even I thought they were going to be. That defense is damn talented. Calling for a rebuild with a 2-1 record is the definition of illogical. Especially since for all we know, this could be an anomaly. We've lost games in blowouts in seasons we've made the playoffs before. Not this bad? Sure. But really how different is a 40 point loss than a 30 point loss(by ten points, sure, but at the end of the day it's humiliating). For all we know ,we could bounce back next week. And guess what, we'd have the division lead by a clear cut mile. In fact, we're still in first place lol..

Giving up and demanding a rebuild, and blowing up the team? Even if we do draft a QB high, is DUMB. Sorry. I agree, Flacco needs to play a hell of a lot better. He's become a liability. But calling for a full-scale rebuild? Wow. That's desperate. Sure, let's trade away all of our pieces when honestly we are an offensive line and being healthy again away from being a good team again. That makes so much sense....

I don't think the protection thing is on Ozzie but that's neither here nor there. Point is that Joe hasn't been able to get the ball in his receivers hands at all and that's not a good thing. He has a lot of problems going on with him right now and if he doesn't fix things up then chalk that up as three years of poor QB play. Also, eight straight games with an INT? There's no sugar coating that, it's absolutely on Joe's shoulders.

Now Joe has leverage, but you got to figure out how to put the pressure on him to play better. You can't really cut him or trade him at this point, but drafting a QB in the 1st or 2nd round at least will show that you mean business, K.C did it and boy did it light a fire in Alex Smith. He's playing with so much more urgency and taking more chances when a play opens up instead of being scared to make the throw. I know it will hurt picking a QB but that's the only way I can think of for this team to get to Joe, otherwise you might have to just stick with him throwing a pick nearly every game which is badly hurting this team.

Picking a QB that high doesn't mean rebuild, but it can absolutely get the point across to Joe that the Ravens want a return on their investment now or else they're ready to replace him at any moment.

Honestly, I'll give the Ravens the benefit of the doubt and say they were jet lagged. I heard that they just saw the field this morning and that is kind of big deal, not to mention they looked like they were slow, tired, and unprepared. I know people will get upset seeing this because these players are paid to play and should put in full effort with no excuses, with that said it was their first time ever traveling to London and the ill effects of it was on full display. It's just hard to believe that this defense would regress after making upgrades everywhere.

to anyone who didnt think resigning brandon williams was worth it - look at how we defended the run today

Absolutely, not to mention what Austin Howard has done this season, I think we're justified in letting go of Wagner for Williams.

not to mention ricard for juice, urban for guy

never thought that vlad ducasse and kamar aiken would be the actual losses that seem to make a difference in hindsight for this team

Yeah those guys have been very effective replacements. I don't think Vlad or Aiken would've made a difference honestly.

I think QB is absolutely in play in the first round. Joe either gets his shit together or he won't be starting much longer. They have a decent team, can't waste it with his current QB play. Evidently the Ravens were already scouting Josh Allen so I think there's definitely interest in finding his replacement.

Hey.....I resemble that remark! Where's an ass emoji when you need one! lol

I kinda expected a loss as well with the travel. Piling on to that playing their first game without what may be the two most important players on the team certainly didn't help. Putting it into perspective it was one loss and all you can do at this point get some guys back and hope for better performances down the road. To say that the team needs to be "blown up" is reactionary and dumb.

That's legit, although Allen isn't a Day one starter. Then again, we won't have a shot at the Day One starters.

An L is an L is an L and we got embarrassed and so did my fantasy team but watching the steelers lose made it all okay because they lost to the bears atleast we lost to a team that's supposed to go .500 this year and also that they lost and we are still #1 in the division so as much as today sucked ass we control everything with how next week goes if we win next week we are 3-0 in the division and 3-1 and that's a great place to be sitting I'm sure this game left a bad taste in not only our mouths but more so the team and coaches mouths so before all of you act like we need to rebuild like you do after every loss remember we are going to lose and losing this bad the week before steelers week could be a massive motivator I'm not worried at all

The ugly: I got my first dislike on these forums for saying the game will get ugly.
Just kidding, but I want to say I was right. Our 2nd linebacker posed a problem. K.C sucked but coaches still force him to play. He got us destroyed in pass coverage and looks to tackle the offensive line, not the guy with the ball. An if you look, our line is not that bad. We have only allowed 6 sacks this season. We have played 2 top 5 pass rushes. The Bungles have 5 first half sacks against Aaron Rodgers IN GREEN BAY. Jacksonville sacked Houston 10 times. The line is playing fairly decent (middle of the pack). The problem is 3 & 10 every time we have the ball. That is how you get sacked. Flukko has to play better. No matter what the line, not excuse to pass for 18 yards.
The decent: We are first in the AFC North, Alex Collins looks legit, we are 2-1 and coming home with possibly our 2 hardest away games behind us. The Steelers don't look any better than us either. No reason to believe the season is anywhere close to over.

You and me both resemble asses. It's why I've been single for the past 6 months!!!!

I'm not surprised by the loss. Disappointed? Sure. But we're 2-1 and first in the division with one team potentially being better than us by a hair and the other two being downright pathetic. Playoffs are still a possibility. To suggest that a total rebuild is necessary is asinine. Flacco needs to get his shit together, but given that even he's been admitting that, I think he does eventually, even if we have to light a fire under his ass. Let's not act like this Jacksonville team is garbage this year like the Jets. They're 2-1 as well with a damn good defense. We didn't show up. Shit happens.

I'm not too worried. I'd like to think next offseason we invest heavily on offensive talent in FA and the draft. I don't think this is our year by any stretch of the imagination but don't necessarily think playoffs are out of the picture. I've been mad at Ozzie for not investing in the line... but if Flacco stays healthy this plan we've got going is more likely to work than not.

The MVP of the game was the bus driver for getting us there thirty minutes early.

There was what? Five ? MAYBE ten? good run stops? Five or six good pass deflections? Some good punts. One TD in garbage time?

What else was good? I am being completely serious here. Is there ANYTHING we can hang out hats on and be proud of today?

God I am SO GLAD I didn't go.
