I'm not saying it would happen (it clearly won't), but I'm just thinking about it in terms of the true value of a kicker. With Evans playing they may or may not win (Winston has other throwing options, and players compensate for losing guys like Evans all the time), but if Tucker was their guy they would win - that's a fact. And if they go on to finish 9-7 and miss the playoffs by one game, how can you accurately price the impact of a guy like that? Especially with how close NFL games can be.Firstly, thought this question was about fantasy. Lordy I'm tired.
Second.. Yes, but why would Tampa Bay ever take that even with the kicking struggles tonight? Evans is a supsrstud. Guys like him don't grow on trees.
Evans doesn't grow on trees, but looking around the league neither do guys like Tucker (we're lucky enough to be in the same situation as the Cheetahs and Cowboys in that all we have to do is pay our guy as much as he wants every time his contract expires, give him the longest deal we can and forget about it until that contract expires) - and it's not unreasonable to think he's worth 2-3 games a season on his own, whereas with a general player that impact is a lot murkier. I think even as much as we appreciate Tucker, we may be underrating him a little. So it's interesting to think about what people might want in return for someone like him or what they'd give up.
